Mechanical Engineer – Programme Manager - Medical Devices – Cambridge
Due to a growth in company output, there is a need for a new Programme Manager who has a Mechanical Engineering pedigree. Based in Cambridge, you will be leading several projects. Some projects will involve you offering support and mentorship to junior members of staff, while other projects will involve you taking on the mechanical design aspects yourself.
We are looking for someone who has been working hands on developing new Medical Devices technologies in their current role, while mentoring other members of staff. Most projects will be on electro-mechanical Medical Devices, so you will need to have worked on these types of technologies. They could be implantable medical devices, wearable tech or another medical technology that abide by EN60601 standards.
Apart from past work experience, it is expected that you would hold a relevant degree within a suitable subject that led you into a Medical Devices Mechanical Engineering role. It would also be advantageous if you hold a master’s or PhD, but not essential as the active work experience in industry is more important.
The types of technologies you will be developing are lifesaving and life improving medical devices, truly industry disrupting technologies that will save and improve thousands of people’s lives.
This role will involve working with external and internal entities, involving a lot of communications both virtual and in real life, due to this it would be advantageous if you have worked in a role that involved communicating updates and project changes continuously.
I mentioned knowing about EN60601, but it would also be essential to have a strong understanding of ISO 13485.
People who have been successful in this role previously tend to have a highly technical hobby, this could be building drones, tinkering with engines, computer programming or another hobby that involves problem solving. If you do have such a hobby, make sure you highlight it on your CV to give you the best chance of gaining an interview.

The College Group includes 1,200 colleagues who work across MK College, the South Central Institute of Technology (SCIoT) Bletchley, our prison education services in 30 prisons and MK Commercial which comprises The Brasserie restaurant, Sport Central, Courtside and the Chaffron Centre.
At MK College, our colleagues support more than 3,000 16-19 year olds currently studying with us and a total student population of over 8,000. As Area Sales Manager Apprentice you will be supported by your Regional Sales Manager and based in the North East/Gloucester area (dependent on successful applicants' location). To support your apprenticeship, you’ll be studying for your Sales Executive Apprenticeship Level 4 through a reputable training provider.
As part of the role, you’ll be required to maintain existing one-off installers and grow business levels with them via a network of merchants, to achieve set targets for selling Baxi domestic solutions including gas boilers, ASHP’s, unvented cylinder ranges & domestic point of use Heatrae Sadia products.
The Area Sales Manager Apprentice would also be responsible for working with merchants in that area to sell the Baxi & Heatrae Sadia product range and pull through sales from the installers to the merchants. This will involve trade events, face to face booked appointments and telephone contact with both merchants and installers.
This role is vitally important to Baxi, we will be looking for a highly motivated individual who will work diligently using a journey plan, finding lucrative new business via the installer and merchant sectors.
As part of your role, you will have the following responsibilities:
Strive to maintain & grow market share and volume for relevant Baxi & Heatrae products, whilst being mindful of margin contributions
Fully embracing the vision and values of the company
Organised, proactive approach to managing sales activity for the company
Deliver the budget and build the new installer pipeline
Meet and exceed all KPI’s as outlined by your manager
Manage day-to-day activities, own reports and communications
Reducing the focus and thus importance on forecast demand by identifying trends and having close relationships with key customers and decision makers
Working on multiple targets at different stages, at the same time
Negotiating and managing the needs and expectations of our customers, aiming to influence the buying decision
You will be expected to identify and develop new customer relationships as well as managing existing accounts
Building effective and cooperative working relationships will all internal and external colleagues, e.g. non-conflicting manufacturers
To ensure all Health and Safety procedures and current guidelines are upheld
What we’re looking for:
Based in either the North East/Gloucester area (dependent on the successful applicant's location), you’ll be self-motivated; works well in a team environment and has the ability to talk to installers/merchants and sell them the features and benefits of the Baxi, Heatrae Sadia and Main range. The successful applicant would also need to work with our Key Account Merchants in building up a trusting relationship for the benefit of all concerned.

Responsibilities
Provide first‑line support for incidents and service requests raised by FSP users, ensuring a positive support experience.
Support the resolution of incidents and completion of service requests in line with agreed service levels.
Contribute to the delivery of internal IT support services, working across Windows, iOS, Android and iPhoneOS environments.

The following is what you will be trained to do during the 2 year apprenticeship.
The role involves supporting site management with health & safety, quality assurance, planning, communication, and programme monitoring to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Key Objectives
Site Setup
Attend project handover meetings with the Contract Manager (CM), and Estimating team
Assist the CM in setting up the site office and project files
Support the setup and delivery of site inductions for all personnel working on the project
Daily Site Management
Assist with organising and managing site deliveries in line with project requirements
Attend daily site briefings such as Safe Start meetings or daily activity briefings organised by the main contractor
Ensure site documentation and daily records are maintained
Quality Management
Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) processes are implemented and followed throughout the project
Develop knowledge of all products being used on the project, particularly fire-related systems and their correct installation requirements
Ensure inspections are completed as required and that any defects are recorded and closed out
Site Health & Safety
Maintain and complete all required documentation within the site health and safety files
Assist in preparing and updating Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Communication
Monitor project email chains and communications to stay informed of updates and project developments

The Apprentice Project Manager is expected to develop proactive thinking by regularly reviewing upcoming site activities, including:
