The Role
As Section Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in the successful operation of the quarry, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently and in line with environmental and legislative requirements.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider support teams, you'll lead operational performance while developing a highly engaged and capable workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the quarry.
Support the Operations Manager in delivering operational, commercial and safety objectives.
Act as the senior site manager in the Operations Manager's absence.
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing operational team.
Drive a positive culture of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Ensure compliance with Quarry Regulations, company policies and statutory legislation.
Manage production planning, stock control and operational performance.
Monitor and report on key operational KPIs.
Support budget management and cost control initiatives.
Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities across the operation.
Oversee planned preventative maintenance programmes alongside engineering teams.
Produce operational reports and management information.
Carry out incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and workforce communications.
Maintain competency records and ensure mandatory and developmental training is completed.

Review, update and implement HR policies, processes and procedures

Provide operational managers with practical support on day-to-day people matters
Manage HR, ATS and scheduling systems, supporting new system implementations where required
Drive continuous improvement across the HR department and ensure the function remains visible, approachable and engaged
ABOUT YOU We're looking for an experienced and credible HR professional who can confidently manage complex employee relations matters while leading a small team in a high-volume environment. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Demonstrable experience in an HR Manager or senior operational HR role
Experience within security, events, high-volume hospitality, logistics, retail or a similarly fast-paced workforce environment
CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualification
Extensive employee relations experience and strong knowledge of UK employment legislation
Proven experience managing disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, TUPE and restructuring processes
Previous experience leading, motivating and developing an HR team
Strong relationship-building skills with the confidence to influence managers at all levels
Experience using HR, ATS and workforce scheduling systems, alongside strong Microsoft Excel skills
A proactive, hands-on and commercially focused approach
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for occasional travel between sites
