Training:The classroom training for the ICT apprenticeship comprises of 4 modules. Each module takes 1 week and the apprentice will attend this in an online classroom with their designated JBC trainer.
The full 5 days will be required during the training weeks, and the apprentice must be in a quiet, suitable environment for learning to take place. This can either be in the workplace or at home. The class sizes are small (Max 10 learners) so that discussions and assessments can take place between apprentices, peers and trainers.

The scheme is typically 30 months in duration and consists of 15 months residential training at the Maintenance Academy situated at Humberside Airport, followed by 15 months vocational training undertaken at a BAE Systems or RAF site in the UK.
Due to the residential element of the apprenticeship, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age when they commence the apprenticeship. Years 3 and 4:
In your 3rd year you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your technical hands on skills. During the Maritime Electrical Fitter Advanced Apprenticeship, you will develop a range of different engineering skills and underpinning knowledge to successfully complete this apprenticeship. Throughout your apprenticeship you will gain valuable experience working on maritime vessels which will culminate in you completing your End Point Assessment.

At the end of the Apprenticeship Programme you will gain the following awards:

Years 1 and 2:
During your first year you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship.
Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within some of the following departments:
Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations and other engineering support functions.
During your second year you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship and continue with your rotational placements.
Years 3 and 4:
In your 3rd year you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills. Your 3rd year will also see you through the workplace portfolio phase of your level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship. For your final year you will specialise in your chosen area, based on your experience throughout your rotational placements you will also complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support (Apprenticeship Standard Ref: ST0457).

Performing Non-destructive inspections at customer premises under supervision from a qualified NDT Technician
Training:The apprenticeship programme is designed to gain skills and technical expertise to become a certified NDT Operator in three NDT Methods. This includes health and safety training, 1-to-1 mentoring, seminars, practical work experience sessions, and on-the-job training.
The candidates will keep records of their learning and experience throughout the programme and create a project report. The project will then be presented at the end-point assessment.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship scheme, further PCN qualifications may be gained.
