Main Duties:
Provide a warm, professional first point of contact for visitors, staff, and students
Ensure the reception area is tidy, presentable, and welcoming at all times
Maintain visitor records and issue passes, ensuring accuracy and security
Handle incoming calls, screen enquiries, and direct messages efficiently and courteously
Provide information using the Academy’s Management Information System (SIMS)
Support and reassure visitors or parents who may be upset or distressed
Notify appropriate staff of any issues or unidentified visitors.
Assist with welfare support for students when required
Respond appropriately to fire alarm activations, including communication with Premises Staff and emergency services
Contact parents as directed regarding student issues or illness.
Manage lost property and general reception-area tasks
Receive, check in, and secure school deliveries before notifying the Finance Office
Support general office duties including sorting and distributing mail
Assist with hospitality arrangements for visitors
Help collate data for official returns
Support administrative tasks including typing, filing, and record-keeping
Maintain accurate logs of phone calls and relevant communications
Provide first aid support when required (training provided if needed)
Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Principal
Support Academy events when needed
Participate in team meetings and quality-assurance activities
Engage in performance-management procedures and ongoing training
Keep up to date with new systems and undertake training where appropriate

Security of PremisesTo have overall responsibility for the supervision of the school premises including:
Locking and unlocking the premises.
Ensuring community users sign the Lettings sheet.
Carrying out security checks, including the site perimeter and frequent patrols of the school’s grounds.
Operation of fire, security systems and all weather pitch.
Operation of boilers for heating and hot water.
Responding to emergencies affecting the school premises.
Attention to security is very important to ensure there is no unauthorised access during the hire period.
Other Janitorial and Support Duties
To be proactive in maintaining excellent cleaning standards in both designated areas and those required in support of the Premises team.
To carry out maintenance tasks, such as minor repairs and painting.
Moving furniture as requested, within Health & Safety guidelines e.g. setting out and clearing away chairs and tables, or moving water urns.
Cleaning floors and other communal areas as requested by the Premises Manager.
Ensure any Health & Safety issues are reported to the Premises Manager or Operations Director.
Ensure safe working practices and the correct use of plant and equipment at all times.
Safe storage of all cleaning and COSHH materials.
Contributing to risk assessment.
Other duties arising from the use of the school site.
Premises General
Carry out emergency cleaning duties which may arise.
To carry out related Premises maintenance, such as descaling of taps, flushing toilets, litter picking,setting up chairs/tables, 3G Astro Turf maintenance.
Where necessary ensuring that main entrances and paths are clear of snow or ice by applying salt.
To maintain a highly visible, friendly and approachable presence during lettings.
Trouble shoot problems as they arise.
Customer Care
To carry out your duties in a polite, efficient and cheerful manner building relationships with regular users.
To treat students, parents, staff, visitors and contractors with care, consideration and courtesy in accordance with the school’s ethos and values.
To promote a favourable image of Northwood School to all building users.
To present high standards of personal appearance in accordance with the school’s ethos and values.

The main responsibilities will include:
Grounds maintenance, such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, and general upkeep of public spaces.
Open space maintenance, including care for areas like the Community Orchard, which may involve planting, pruning, and supporting biodiversity initiatives.
Street furniture maintenance, including regular checks, cleaning, and minor repairs of noticeboards, benches, dog bag dispensers, and street signs.
Supporting the maintenance of play parks by conducting routine inspections and assisting with minor repairs to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Training:You will undertake the “Accounts / Finance Assistant” Apprenticeship (an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting), with full support from Accountancy Learning as part of their Flexible Apprenticeship Programme.
Assessment will be by an “End Point Assessment”, which will include the following two elements:
A Structured Interview. This will consist of 10 questions asked by an AAT Independent Assessor. It will last 60 minutes and will be performed remotely via the AAT online video portal. The questions will allow you to display the knowledge and experience you have obtained over your apprenticeship. You will build a portfolio of reflections and product evidence that will be used to support your answers to these 10 questions.
An In-tray Test. This will be undertaken under exam conditions and will last 105 minutes. It will be based on what you have studied in your AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
Successful completion of the AAT (Level 2) Foundation Certificate in Accounting is a mandatory element of the Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship. Your Apprenticeship will therefore include formal studies towards this qualification. It is anticipated that your apprenticeship duration will be for 15 months, although earlier completion is possible, provided the duration exceeds one year and a week.
You will receive support from both the employer and the training provider, to complete and achieve your Apprenticeship and will be given time to study during the week on a day release basis. As you are working towards a professional qualification, it is also expected that you will continue your studies outside of normal office hours.

Working in a childcare setting with children ranging from ages 0-5
Completing a variety of day-to-day childcare tasks to ensure that children’s needs, welfare and education are catered for. This can include helping children to learn numeracy and language skills through games, taking part in singing, role-playing and storytelling and more
Also, being able to liaise with external customers and parents, to provide a high level of service for the childcare setting
Meets the care needs of the individual child, such as feeding, changing nappies and administration of medicine
Training:
You will be working towards an Advanced Diploma Early Years and a first aid qualification
Your apprenticeship will last for 13 months, where you will be supported by a dedicated assessor throughout your apprenticeship, as well as a mentor and other staff within the nursery
This apprenticeship requires dedication, commitment and punctuality for you to be successful
This apprenticeship will open doors to a variety of future roles and career paths within the childcare sector
Training will take place in the workplace
You will need to attend online training with your assessor for 10 days out of your 13-month apprenticeship, for your classroom-based learning, and you will be working within the nursery for the rest of the time with the support of your dedicated childcare assessor

Training:East Sussex College you will be completing the Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will include Knowledge, Skills, Behaviour, Diploma (if included), Functional Skills (if required)
