Every day is different within the Service department. As a Service Technician/Mechanic apprentice, some of your duties will include:
· Use of diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
· Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working.
· Following checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined.
· Carrying out bumper to bumper overview, service, and inspection.

As an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer, you'll be supporting Mitie's delivery of two Public Finance Initiative (PFI) contracts, covering 8 buildings across a diverse and critical portfolio. These include residential respite centres, day centres, healthcare facilities, and hospitals – essential community sites where the quality and timeliness of maintenance really matter.
Our services are largely self-delivered and supported by a network of trusted subcontractors. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training
Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge, skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop
Identify, track and support 6 hours of off-the-job training activities
Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

As part of our structured apprenticeship program, you’ll rotate through a variety of departments within our state-of-the-art Water Hygiene Testing department. From sample preparation to analytical testing, you'll learn how to prepare and analyse samples, carry out tests, record results, and maintain lab equipment—all while ensuring high standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Register, prepare and analyse samples as required.
Perform laboratory tasks following specific methodologies.
Use of specified laboratory instrumentation and equipment, including calibration.
Produce reliable, accurate data and keep accurate records of laboratory work.
Analyse, interpret and evaluate data.
Identify issues and escalate to management where appropriate.
Communicate scientific information using our internal laboratory information management system.
Participate in continuous business performance improvement.
Maintain a ‘Clean as you go’ mentality, undertaking general housekeeping duties.
Maintain laboratory equipment stock levels.
Perform your duties with customer focus ensuring a high level of customer care.
Undertake any internal training sessions made available to you.
Attend apprenticeship training every week (term time) at the IOT Stafford Campus

Training:
20% off the job training at the new Institute of Technology (IOT) based in Stafford. At least 1 working day of the week will need to spent at the IOT for classroom learning.

Working safely and wearing the correct PPE you will build frames from different materials so that concrete can be poured into these frames to produce the structure of the building being erected.
Above will be done in stages on a schedule so that the main structure of the building is built accurately and to the correct quality.
You will learn wood working skills, concrete terminology and different mixes used for different parts of the building.
Install re-inforcement materials where necessary as specified by the architect and the drawings.
Remove frames once concrete is set and check quality and dimensions to the correct drawings.
Use of hand and power tools will be required for this role and training will be given on their correct safe use.
Work will be mainly outside and some working at heights will be required.
Training:We are looking at training options but they are as follows:-
Block release to a local college in Stratford where you will study theory and practical lessons. When not at college you will be on site 5 days a week learning on the job skills to supplement your training.
2nd option is theory lessons on line usually from home once a week and the training provider will visit you on site regularly to check on your progress with practical skills.
Training Outcome:After the apprenticeship the apprentice can work as a full time Formworker or look at opportunities to progress into construction management or construction surveying or construction engineering via additional learning indpendently or via a higher apprenticeship.Employer Description:CoTrain is a program under SECBE .
