FPGA Electronics Engineer – Defence – Cambridge
I’m supporting a defence company in Cambridge that works on some of the most challenging engineering problems facing UK defence and national security. They’re looking for an FPGA specialist who enjoys getting into the detail, building solutions from first principles and turning complex ideas into working systems that make a real‑world difference.
You’d be joining a team where engineers, scientists and designers collaborate closely, moving quickly from concept to prototype. The work is varied, hands‑on and genuinely meaningful, with projects focused on countering emerging technological and cyber threats. It’s the kind of environment where curiosity is encouraged, technical depth is valued and people take pride in solving problems that matter.
The role spans the full development cycle, from requirements capture through to design, implementation, verification and delivery. You’ll be working with modern FPGA toolchains and contributing to projects that often involve DSP, modelling, embedded systems or advanced communications technologies. Strong experience with VHDL or Verilog is essential, and any exposure to areas such as MATLAB/Simulink, electronics, embedded C/C++, SDRs, radar or communications systems would be a real advantage. They’re open to engineers at different career stages, provided you bring solid fundamentals and a genuine interest in this type of work. Prior defence experience helps but isn’t essential.

Electronics Engineer – Programme Manager - Medical Devices – Cambridge
Due to a growth in company output, there is a need for a new Programme Manager who has an Electronics Engineering pedigree. Based in Cambridge, you will be leading several projects. Some projects will involve you offering support and mentorship to junior members of staff, while other projects will involve you taking on the Electronics design aspects yourself.
We are looking for someone who has been working hands on developing new Medical Devices technologies in their current role, while mentoring other members of staff. Most projects will be on electro-mechanical Medical Devices, so you will need to have worked on these types of technologies. They could be implantable medical devices, wearable tech or another medical technology that abide by EN60601 standards.
Alongside past work experience, it is expected that you hold a relevant degree within a suitable subject that led you into a Medical Devices Electronics Engineering role. It would also be advantageous if you hold a master’s or PhD, but not essential as the active work experience in industry is more important.
The types of technologies you will be developing are lifesaving and life improving medical devices, truly industry disrupting technologies that will save and improve thousands of people’s lives.
This role will involve working with external and internal entities, involving a lot of communications both virtual and in real life, due to this it would be advantageous if you have worked in a role that involved communicating updates and project changes continuously.
I mentioned knowing about EN60601, but it would also be essential to have a strong understanding of ISO 13485.
People who have been successful in this role previously tend to have a highly technical hobby, this could be building drones, tinkering with engines, computer programming or another hobby that involves problem solving. If you do have such a hobby, make sure you highlight it on your CV to give you the best chance of gaining an interview.

Job Description:
Our client is looking to appoint an Application Security Engineer to embed security into the software development life cycle. You will act as a subject-matter expert in application and cloud security, providing assurance, secure design guidance and vulnerability remediation support, and ensuring that secure coding, monitoring and vulnerability management practices are consistently applied. This role is well suited to someone already working in that space or a Developer that is looking for a move into being more security focused and looking at how security is embedded with the SDLC.
Skills/Experience:
Experience securing applications in cloud environments, ideally Azure
Strong understanding of OWASP vulnerabilities.
Software development experience ideally with C# / .NET.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and working with Azure Devops
Experience with SAST, DAST and software composition analysis tools.
Understanding of authentication, including OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
Experience managing and remediating vulnerabilities.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Strong technical aptitude across application and cloud security.
Ability to work effectively in agile environments.

Perform secure design reviews for applications and APIs.
Conduct SAST, DAST and software composition analysis.
Support remediation of vulnerabilities with development teams.
Integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines.

Conduct threat modelling for critical systems.
Ensure secure cloud configurations.
Develop detection's for application security events and support incident response for application-related threats.
Maintain the application risk register and vulnerability tracking.
Provide guidance and training to developers on secure coding.
