In this apprenticeship you will learn a range of mechanical and electrical skills ranging from bearing fitting to troubleshooting and repairing flow wrappers, fault finding electrical circuits to installing motors.
You will also learn how to safely maintain the equipment to make and package our Ryvita and Dorset Cereals products which are made on the Poole site.

Produce switching procedures for any High Voltage (HV) switching
Carry out switching including isolations and de-isolations of low and high voltage electrical equipment
Take part in planning and executing any work associated with the annual slowdowns / shutdown

As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing the maintenance schedules for all production equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. Your role will involve coordinating with the maintenance team to plan preventive maintenance activities, track maintenance tasks, and manage inventory of spare parts. You will also analyse equipment performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements. How you can help us:
Work with the Engineering Manager to deliver all elements within the Engineering Plan.

For the majority of your apprenticeship, you will work alongside an experienced engineer in a small friendly team environment gaining work experience. You will attend our training provider to gain your nationally recognised qualifications on a day release basis. Salary is reviewed regularly throughout the apprenticeship to reflect progress against the objectives of each phase of training.
Electrical Fitters once fully skilled will be involved in:
Fitting of junction boxes, conduits and full wiring of Baker Perkins range of equipment
Assist with testing of finished equipment and complete test records
Operate portable hand tools for drilling, grinding and sanding etc.
Work within planned times for jobs, and feedback deviations when necessary
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assisting with mechanical fitting as required
Support electrical work within the maintenance team
Work on customers sites as part of an installation team
To be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures including feeding back any H&S information to management
Be aware of and demonstrate the company values and behaviours.
Training:Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3.
College attendance will be 1-day a week at Peterborough College for the first three years of the apprenticeship programme.
For the fourth year you will not attend college as you will be fully work-based. Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME)
Our Global Manufacturing Engineering team operates on Future Vehicle Programmes across our global Manufacturing & Product Design locations. Join us and you will be responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of manufacturing facilities and processes, to build the modern luxury vehicles of the future. You will be working with stakeholders across our enterprise including Design, Product Engineering, Procurement, Part & Facility Suppliers, and Manufacturing Operations to deliver new products into a complex manufacturing infrastructure.
GME is Seven Technologies that work hand in hand to deliver whole vehicle manufacturing solutions; Stamping, Body, Paint, Trim, Propulsion, Dimensional Systems, Logistics & Construction. If you join GME, you could get involved in activities such as working with digital toolsets and systems to leverage VR and digitalisation to bring products and processes to life, work alongside colleagues in the wider industrial operations chapter (procurement, supply chain & manufacturing) as well as interfacing with the product development teams ensuring the product is designed to meet bill of process standards and requirements and deliver enterprise KPI's on Quality, Cost & Time to Market. Year 1 – 2
This programme is delivered through a combination of online study, face-to-face lectures, independent learning each week. This gives you the chance to apply your learning from University of Warwick to projects in a real-world environment. Years 3-4
In years 3 and 4 you will complete modules related to your chosen specialism –Product Design and Development. In your final year, you’ll complete a work-based project as part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). This is an opportunity for you to use the skills and experience you gained throughout your time on the programme and apply them directly to your role. This role will require the apprentice to assist the customer care department and the accounts department on a regular basis. The role will also require the apprentice to register all boilers onto the gas safe register, assist in placing material orders with the plumbing merchants, liaise with our on-site engineers regarding customer extras and material orders, take payments over the phone from our customers.
Duties to include:
Record and document production of each new build site.
Decision making on which merchant to use and which member of the team to delegate certain tasks to.
Speaking to and building relationships with our customers and merchants.
Place orders to merchants via email and phone.
Monthly review of customer extras and boiler spreadsheets to ensure all is up to date and booked in.
Organise and plan small works to be carried out.
Undertake and lead projects as and when required.
Assist accounts department with Sage and invoices.
Assist customer care department with booking work and organising the engineer’s diaries.
Use of Excel, Sage and Word.
Assist company directors.
Registering gas safe boilers and updating spreadsheets.
Logging customer extras.
Taking customer payment over the phone.
Training:
The apprentice will be working towards the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship standard with a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma for the Business Administrator.
All delivered within the workplace via online training with Colchester Institute.
Training Outcome:
Progression after this role could see you stay within the business and progress within your career with the option of moving into office management in the future.
We heavily support our apprentices through the whole apprenticeship and we are proud that most stay within the company once their apprenticeship is complete.
Employer Description:We are a Plumbing and Heating company that specialise in new build. We employ 25 people and have over 35 self-employed plumbers working for us full time.
We are based in Dedham so are 15 minutes away from the nearest bus stop.
We have an open plan office with four people based there full time. The office opening hours is 8:00am – 5:00pm. It is a very busy and friendly office with a great atmosphere.
We have an excellent reputation that we only want to improve on and have won numerous awards within the building industry.
