Job Profile As the successful Applications Engineer, you will be working alongside a friendly team of applications and service specialists, responsible for delivering high-quality CNC applications support, programming, prove-outs, demonstrations, and customer/dealer training on advanced sliding-head and fixed-head mill-turn lathes. The goal is simple: help customers and internal teams get the absolute best productivity, accuracy and reliability from these machines. You will come from a CNC mill-turn or sliding-head background, with strong, practical experience programming, setting and operating CNC lathes with live/driven tooling (MillTurn) and/or CNC sliding-head machines. Because this role supports real production environments and turnkey delivery, you must be confident programming directly at the machine control, not purely offline. Duties:Provide on-site applications support to customers across the UK & Ireland, including machine set-up, prove-outs, cutting optimisation and operator training.Deliver technical and programming support to distribution partners, ensuring successful installations and ongoing performance of new and existing machine platforms.Run customer and partner machine demonstrations, setting up and programming machines for test or customer components, explaining processes clearly and professionally.Create, prove and refine machining methods and CNC programs that solve customers’ component and process challenges.Produce accurate and achievable cycle time studies, using full machine capability to maximise productivity.Support machine installations in showrooms and at customer sites, checking factory specifications and safe operation.Provide telephone/remote technical support on programming and application issues as required.Stay current with new machine developments, attending manufacturer training and helping develop internal/external training courses.Support exhibitions, open houses and in-house events where needed.You may be asked for perform other duties on occasion. Role & responsibilities:
Design, develop and engineer high-quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools – Autodesk Powershape software
Turn customer models / drawings into usable CAD data for the CNC machines
Take CAD instructions / models and create toolpaths / programmes using CAM software
Setting up, running and maintaining CNC machines
Create drawings of products, ensuring they are produced to a good standard
Liaise with customers to ensure the models / drawings meet their requirements
Use 3D scanning equipment and Polyworks metrology software to scan and check a variety of products
Inspecting finished products for accuracy and quality, identifying any defects
Wrapping products ready for dispatch
Assisting with dispatch of products in line with delivery notes

The whole apprenticeship has been designed as a 5-year journey. Placements in the business will add to the continued development of each apprentice. The knowledge learned via the learning at university are solidified during multiple work placements designed to create a structured environment for the apprentice to develop skills and behaviours and put into practice some of the topics that they have been learning.
Design and development activities:
Once you have learnt how parts are made, it is then the time to learn how those parts are designed and developed ready for production. These next placements are within the mechanical engineering groups across Renishaw, allowing you to work on real projects and products. You will get the opportunity to utilise the skills learnt in year one and design parts using computer aided design (CAD) with manufacture, assembly, and test in mind. Summary: The Cement Additives Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving business growth and profitability through strategic technical support and contribution to the sales process. This position is tasked with providing technical support and expertise of the cement manufacturing process to our cement additive sales team and customers. Proficiency in this role requires exceptional cement manufacturing, analytical, and communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with internal teams at Euclid Chemical and build strong, lasting relationships with external cement customers - both active and potential customers. This is a remote position, with Euclid Chemical's main campus located in Ceveland, OH.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a technical ambassador for the Euclid Chemical cement additive sales team. Subject matter expert to provide feedback and troubleshooting information for customers. Act as a technical expert on the latest cement manufacturing technologies, equipment, and best practices to maintain Euclid Chemical's competitive edge. Deliver customer support through industrial trials, mill audits, special projects, data analysis, and detailed reporting to retain existing customers and attract new ones Compile and analyze industrial trial process data, and prepare detailed reports providing conclusions and action items from industrial trial runs. Keep thorough and updated records of activity history with active and potential cement additive customers. Design and execution of plant industrial trials and mill audits. Maintenance and operation of portable pump equipment inventory to utilize during industrial trials. Collaborate with the Cement Additives Technical Manager and Cement Lab Manager to develop new products and enhance existing lines based on market trends, competitive analysis, and industrial trial results. Work collaboratively with Euclid Chemical Cement Additives Lab team in the development and improvement of laboratory ball mill methodologies for testing materials.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical or mechanical) or chemistry - master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cement manufacturing process control or quality management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge and understanding of cement manufacturing, cement chemistry, and raw and finish mill circuit operation. Basic understanding of cement additives chemistries. Ability to interpret lab outputs (e.g., XRD, clinker microscopy, isothermal calorimetry, and physical test results) to develop customer-specific strategies and product recommendations. Proficiency with cement standards (ASTM, CSA, etc.). Strong knowledge of milling equipment, particle classifiers, circuit configurations, and pyro processes for optimizing clinker performance. Advanced knowledge of MS Office computer software: Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Basic knowledge of MS Outlook, Teams, Edge Internet Browser. Knowledge of industry trends, including low clinker content cement production and co-grinding with alternative materials. Data analysis and report writing skills. Communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership and team management capabilities. Analytical and problem-solving abilities. The ability to design and execute plant industrial trials and mill audits.
Travel:
Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings and plant industrial trials (up to 50%).
