About the role
The Principal Engineer is responsible for the management of the relevant service within Highway and Transport and to provide specialist professional advice relevant to your team's area of responsibility. Depending on the role, you will need to deliver excellence in sustainable transport and strategy - leading on developing our projects and programmes and engaging with our communities and stakeholders, and/or excellent management of detailed design and delivery, and contractor management - either in highways, traffic, or street lighting field of expertise
Job Purpose
To progress and secure the effective project management of assigned projects through relevant stages from conception through to implementation and monitoring.
To undertake the role of Project Manager for large, complex and multi-disciplined projects including consultation, programming, planning and coordination.
To co-ordinate, prioritise work, establish work programmes and schedules for the assigned functional areas of work and ensuring their achievement and provide or secure technical guidance and training as necessary in this connection.
To develop, design, consult, progress and implement measures to improve the boroughs Highway and Transport network.
To assist in the analysis of service requirements and the development, review and monitoring of performance indicators by which the quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the work of the Team or Service is demonstrated.
To be responsible for ensuring that your team conforms to the councils quality standards, standing orders, and relevant legislation.
To participate in the production, development and review of contracts, technical codes of practice and the tendering process from pre-feasibility to post implementation reviews for the assigned functional areas of responsibility.
To manage and administer contracts with consultants and contractors.
To provide or secure the provision of technical advice on all matters covered by the assigned functional areas within the Service.
To assist in preparing advice to senior management and Council on the effects of relevant new or draft legislation, Codes of Practice or other initiatives, publications or developments, ensuring that appropriate Members and other interested parties are properly briefed and advised.

Time served / Apprentice trained Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Craftsperson is required for permanent position for a Manufacturing company in the Bury / Whitefield M45 area. Rate of pay is approx.. £48k pa incl. shift allowance (likely earnings to be circa £50k - £60k pa including regular O/T) plus benefits (see below). The successful candidate will be working a 4 week rotating, continental shift pattern, average of 42 hours/week (12 hour days & 12 hour nights, with 7 consecutive days off in a 4 week rotation).
The ideal candidate will have prior experience of working in an industrial manufacturing environment and be familiar with three phase / 440v, single phase and DC control systems (incl. motor and heating), industrial electrical installations and industrial manufacturing machinery.

The successful Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Maintenance Technician / Industrial Electrical Craftsperson day to day duties will include:
Diagnose and repair electrical problems on industrial and occasional domestic electrical systems – Including 3 phase motor control, DC motor control and Siemens control systems
Assess the parts needed for a job
Conduct routine preventative maintenance and testing
Rewire faulty electrical systems
Ensure good quality workmanship which upholds company standards and complies with industrial codes and follows safety requirements
Ability to work alone and also work within a team
Install electrical systems to 17th / 18th edition regs.
The ideal Maintenance Electrician / Industrial Electrical Craftsperson will have the following experience, skills and characteristics:
Completed relevant maintenance engineering apprenticeship i.e. NVQ L3 / C&G L3
Recent experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Relevant electrical engineering qualification and knowledge of current electrical wiring regulations 17/18th
Good working knowledge Three phase, single phase and DC control systems – including motor and heating
Able to follow relay ladder logic wiring diagrams
Industrial Electrical installation experience.
Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics repairs
Able to work under pressure, work safely, excellent problem solving skills, attentive and a logical thought process.
Ability to read electrical drawings
Good communicational skills (Oral, Reading & Writing), able to communicate at all levels.
HNC or higher Electrical Engineering qualification (desirable)
Testing and Inspection with PAT – (desirable)
Basic knowledge of a PLC’s / Siemens control system – recognition of Inputs and Outputs (desirable)
Basic knowledge of variable speed drives AC/DC (desirable)

Field Based Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Covering the East Midlands
We are looking to add a Field Based Electrical Maintenance Engineer to our existing Engineering team. The role will be primarily to maintain the electrical equipment inside our high street stores, but there will also be the occasion when you will be required to support our manufacturing plant and work alongside the engineering team based in Derby.
Duties:
Your day will start by collecting the van from the Main Plant based in Derby. The van will have all the tools that you need to carry out your role. The main plant will also hold all the parts you will need to carry out the maintenance and repairs when you are on site out in the field. You will be required to attend about 3 sites per day depending on the amount of maintenance required at each site, and all of the sites that are scheduled for maintenance and repairs will be local to each other. The role will be varied, including fixing and maintaining the commercial machinery on site that is used to manufacture the food products such as the ovens that are used in the manufacturing process. Refrigeration experience is also a bonus.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring safety, maintaining product quality, and enhancing process efficiency in a chemical production environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead in safety management, resolving complex issues in collaboration with shift supervisors. Conduct and oversee scheduled Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA). Monitor and address potential safety concerns proactively. Utilize DAKOTA software for advanced compliance, incident reporting, and safety management. Develop and implement \"standard work\" practices to enhance LEAN culture. Manage activities on Engineering Tier and accountability boards, and conduct daily GEMBA Walks for education and communication. Focus on productivity improvement by eliminating non-value-added activities using engineering principles. Maximize equipment efficiency for optimal product quality, and train operators on quality specifications. Participate actively as a member of the facility's Quality Improvement Council (QIC), focusing on root cause analysis. Successfully manage significant process projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Mentor less experienced peers, providing guidance and expertise.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: 4-year degree in engineering.

Job Purpose: To effectively produce components using the to the required quality and timescale and in accordance with the job specification/drawing and works order.
The successful CNC Miller Setter / Operator day to day duties will include:
Prioritise, in accordance with Team Leader’s instructions and work in progress requirements, works orders received from the Cutting Room
Ensure material received is to specification. Refer any inaccuracies to the Team Leader.
Identify and load the appropriate programme for the specific job, referring to the Pro-Engineer report. If no programme exists or a program error has occurred report to the Team Leader
Manufacture components to production deadlines ensuring the CNC / manual machines are operated safely and that the appropriate checks have been carried out
Ensure that the completed component is checked against the specification, is de-burred and engraved and blasted as required
Manufacture jigs and fixtures to aid the machining of components
Follow the machine maintenance schedule; respond appropriately and quickly to machine alarms.
Report any faults with the machine to the Team Leader
Carry out weekly 5S audits on area as requested by Team Leader
Deal professionally, competently and courteously with customers, suppliers and colleagues in problems and offer advice with verbal and written communications
To be suitable for this CNC Miller Setter / Operator role you must have the following experience / characteristics:
Must have previous experience of setting / operating Fanuc controlled CNC milling machines
Must have previous experience of using manual milling machine.
Ideally be a time served or completed relevant apprenticeship as a CNC / Manual machinist.
Must have undertaken formal training in CNC setting and operation.
Highly motivated and keen to succeed.
To be more suitable for this CNC Miller Setter / Operator role it would be more advantageous if you have the following skills / experience:
Ideally will have attended programming courses run by machine manufacturers.
Online programming experience.
Relevant qualifications in manual machining / CNC machining.
Previous experience of manufacturing stainless steel / aluminium parts.
Previous experience of using Hitachi Seiki HiCells C.N.C machines.
