Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with clients to ensure they complete the work according to the requirements.
Measuring the work area to calculate the time and materials required to complete the project.
Preparing the surrounding area, including covering fixtures and furniture to prevent messes.
Preparing painting surfaces, including removing old paint, filling holes and cracks, and washing walls.
Choosing the tools to complete the job.
Mixing and matching paints and colours to meet the texture and look required form the project.
Applying paint, varnishing and other finishes, hanging wallpapers and other decorative products.
Cleaning up painting tools and supplies, replacing fixtures and rearranging furniture after completing the project.
Collaborating with painters on larger jobs.
Working with other construction professionals such as carpenters, electricians and plumbers when necessary.
Training:
You will be attending Walsall College's Green Lane Campus once per week and will be working with We Paint It 4 days per week.
If you are required to complete your Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship you will be required in college 2 days per week and 3 days with We Paint It.
Training Outcome:A full-time position will be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. The role is to identify damaged mechanical and electrical components on a damaged Car/Light Commercial Vehicle, and remove and refit these components before and after body repair work has been carried out. They typically work on repairing vehicles that have been involved in accidents or similar incidents. This is usually within a collision repair workshop.
Duties will include:
Assessing faults
Preparing job cards and assessment reports
Accessing and removing mechanical and electrical components
Removing and fitting non-structural body panels
Removing and re-installing mechanical and electrical systems

Nationally recognised qualifications – IMI Apprenticeship in Vehicle Damage Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET) Technician (Standard – Level 3)
Functional Skills Level 2 (if required)
Regular review and welfare visits from our assessors who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace.Training Outcome:

Training:At the end of the apprenticeship, you will have gained Business Administration Level 3. Deane will accommodate the necessary time to enable you to undertake your studies. This will be set aside each week in your schedule. The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Business Administration level 3 standard. On completion, the apprentice will receive a Business Administration level 3 qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required, depending on current level.
