You will work closely with a mentor contributing as part of a team to the investigation of archaeological remains on various sites. The work is mainly outdoors, in all weather conditions. Applicants should be aware of the physical nature of the role and must be willing and able to work outside in cold, wet, or hot conditions.
Initially, you will be working on various sites where you will learn the basics of the job and acquire an understanding of health, safety and the environment. You will learn to manually excavate both small and large archaeological features using hand tools; trowels, shovels, and mattocks.
You will also learn to interpret and record archaeological features using a range of techniques, including photography, context recording and survey drawings.
As well as contributing to site excavations, you will have the opportunity to learn how archaeological finds are processed and interpreted. You will work with our post-excavation team to help process and identify different types of finds.
After your onboarding (at our Leeds office) you will mostly be working away on various projects before going on to a large infrastructure project in Essex where you will be working with a large field team.

The Golf Greenkeeper employs a range of skilled practical manual handling, methods and techniques. Requires competency in the safe use and operation of machinery and equipment, these specific skills are a focus within an apprentices training programme.
Practice and Theory - By the end of the programme, you will know when, how and why the range of maintenance operations are carried out.
A Golf Greenkeeper will be able to:
Maintain good standards of health and safety for self and othersPrepare the golf course for play which will include removing early morning dew and debris from the greens, raking bunkers, moving tee markers, cutting new holes on greens
Prepare and use equipment and machinery to maintain and renovate all turf surfaces within the golf course, including the use of tractors, ride-on machines, and specialist equipment
Apply turf treatments to help produce quality playing surfaces, including fertilisers and top dressing
Use a variety of integrated methods to control weeds, fungal diseases, pests and turf disorders
Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water features
Maintain drainage and irrigation systems
Prepare ground to establish turf and plants when maintaining, renovating and constructing golf course features
An Apprentice Golf Greenkeeper will develop and learn to understand the following technical knowledge:
Identify their role in monitoring and maintaining health and safety within the workplace
Identify a number of grasses, weeds, pests, diseases, turf disorders, plants and trees
The primary aspects of soil and plant biology to include the process of germination- photosynthesis, respiration and transpiration
The principles of mowing and machine maintenance and their operation
The need and implications of rolling, verti-cutting, scarification and aeration
The strategies for controlling weeds, pests, diseases and turf disorders
How fertilisers, top dressing and chemicals affect playing surfaces
How course maintenance practices affect the environment
Be aware of the importance of the Rules of Golf and golf course etiquette
Recognise the importance of environmental and ecological best practice
The operation of irrigation, drainage systems and their maintenance
Training:
The training will take place at the workplace where you will have regular visits from your Oldham College Tutor/Assessor and you will be fully supported by your employer

Sinalda UK Ltd is a small family run business specialising in the supply of voltage stabilisers, power line conditioners, variable transformers and frequency converters. These are manufactured at their facilities in China and Taiwan.
The apprentice would assist in general testing of the above, along with fault finding and repairs. This would be at their facility in Caldecott but would sometimes require visits to sites across the UK.
You will be working under an experienced electrical engineer and may also be required to visit the overseas manufacturing plants for product familiarisation and if necessary, accompany other engineers on overseas site visits.
You will also be given dedicated projects on which you will be required to focus when not being actively supervised.You will carry out Technical Duties (Approximately 75%):
Assist with the inspection, testing and commissioning of voltage stabilisers, power line conditioners and frequency converters and learn to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Support fault-finding and troubleshooting activities under the supervision of experienced engineers and assist with technical enquiries and product support
Participate in equipment testing and quality assurance procedures
Assist with preparing technical reports and maintaining engineering records
Accompany engineers on customer site visits throughout the UK and support installation and commissioning activities where appropriate
Gaining an understanding of power quality, voltage regulation, harmonic distortion and frequency conversion technologies and participate fully in apprenticeship training and academic studies
You will have Business Support Duties (Approximately 25%):
As a small family-owned business, all employees contribute to the smooth running of the organisation, so you will help with:
Packing, preparing and dispatching customer orders and assisting with stock management and goods receipt activities
Carrying out routine administrative duties, including document control and data entry, answering telephone calls and responding to customer enquiries under supervision
Assisting with delivery coordination and logistics activities and supporting general office and operational requirements as needed
In time you will undertake a planned attachment to one of Sinalda's overseas manufacturing facilities in China or Taiwan during the third year of the apprenticeship, subject to satisfactory performance, business requirements and travel requirements. During the overseas attachment, you will gain first-hand experience of product manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, engineering processes and supply chain operations.
You will have opportunities for further overseas visits and specialist technical training where appropriate.
For this apprenticeship you will need to be able to drive or, be close to taking your driving test.

The Maintenance Technician supports and ensures the completion of day-to-day maintenance activities at the plant. The position provides support to leadership for all maintenance staff to drive excellence and maximize effort. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inspect and repair plant equipment, including but not limited to mechanical, welding, carpentry, electrical, instrumentation and controls to minimize downtime.
Document accurate maintenance activity records.
Clean and maintain assigned areas and tools to ensure proper functionality.

Report incidents, near misses, and any non-conformances through the appropriate channels.

Give input on and coordinate maintenance supply purchases.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
One-year certificate from college, technical school or manufacturing training program.
One additional year of experience plus a high school diploma/GED in lieu of higher education is acceptable.
Two additional years of experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
1-2 years of Maintenance experience within a manufacturing or similar environment preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Forklift License preferred. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience in 480-volt 3-phase electricity required (Preferred in some locations).
Capable of installing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC; AC/DC drive motors preferred.
