Mechanical workshop and practical skills:
Learn and apply practical workshop skills including measuring, marking out, filing, deburring, sawing, drilling, tapping, reaming and fitting under appropriate supervision.
Work with a range of engineering materials, including metals and engineering plastics, using suitable tools, techniques and safe working practices.
Support basic machining and manufacturing activities, including supervised use of workshop equipment and processes as appropriate to your training stage.
Maintain a tidy, safe and organised working environment, following workshop procedures and company standards.
Mechanical assembly, Build and project support:
Assist with the mechanical assembly and build of bespoke machinery, automated equipment and mechanical aids under supervision.
Learn to interpret engineering drawings, parts lists, build documentation and project information.
Support fitting, adjustment, inspection and checking activities to help ensure machinery is built accurately and to the required quality.
Work with colleagues across mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines to understand how complete machines are designed, built, tested and delivered.
Learning & development:
Complete apprenticeship coursework to a high standard.
Achieve a high level of attendance with day release/off-site study.
Build an understanding of company standards and safe working practices.
Communication:
Work collaboratively with all colleagues to support machine builds.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of process and facility-related equipment. Equipment inspection includes preventative maintenance (PM) and associated documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all safety policies (especially Cardinal Rules - e.g. Hot Work, LOTO, Confined Space)
Partner with Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Manager to support LEAN initiatives to eliminate unplanned production interruptions due to process equipment failure
Implement the needed preventative measures, including optimization of PM program
Ensure reliable operation of facility support processes and utilities (i.e. HVAC, Steam Boilers Air Compressors, Tow motors, Cooling Towers, Hot Oil Heaters)
Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility electrical systems (e.g. programmable logic controllers, human machine interfaces, lighting) and components (e.g. sensors, switches, valves)
Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility mechanical systems (e.g. product vessels/reactors, pumps) and components (e.g. piping, manual valves)
Investigate equipment/process failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation
Assist Maintenance Supervisor to arrange and coordinate contractor tasks (including equipment rental) to support facility and process maintenance/repairs
Serve, as needed, on process hazard analysis (PHA) teams/sessions

Use IT Tools such as Active Directory tools and ITSM (IT helpdesk tickets / requests)
Basic understanding of network segmentation and VLANs
Perform network performance testing via script and monitoring tools
