GENRAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The 2nd shift Quality Technician conducts testing on incoming and outgoing materials to ensure conformance to all quality requirements both internal and external. In addition, this role maintains the lab in a safe and organized manner to comply with all corporate or governmental policies for safety, environmental, and quality, and assists with plantwide ISO 9001 compliance in whatever capacity required.
Schedule: Monday- Friday: 3 p.m.- 11:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual batch testing activities per product and procedural requirements.
Perform periodic calibrations of lab and plant equipment.
Participate in the development of quality specifications for raw materials, finished products or substitute materials.
Support ISO Quality systems by understanding quality expectations, work instructions, and completing proper quality documentation.
Perform periodic quality audits of production processes and finished goods.
Communicate with other departments about the status of quality material.
Perform first piece inspections on finished products.EDUCATION:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.EXPERIENCE:
One to two years of related experience and/or training.
Minimum one year of related experience working in Extruded Rubber Products (ERP) or similar industry.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
ISO knowledge.
Knowledge of lab testing and extrusion/mixing raw materials preferred.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.

This is an opportunity to move from optical retail into a hands-on workshop role, building on your knowledge of prescription lenses and frames. You’ll receive training from a highly experienced spectacle technician, developing practical skills in repairing and reglazing glasses.
The business works with customers and optical practices across the UK, repairing eyewear that often cannot be fixed in a standard optical practice.
The role
With training and support, you will learn to:
Glaze and reglaze prescription lenses using Essilor equipment
Check lens powers, prescriptions and finished spectacles for accuracy
Assess damaged frames and carry out specialist spectacle repairs
Achieve repairs that are both secure and neat
Process online orders and respond to customer enquiries, mainly by email
Support occasional customer appointments and other workshop tasks
About you
At least two years of recent experience working as an Optical Assistant
A good understanding of prescription lenses, frames and dispensing
An interest in practical work and developing technical skills
Good attention to detail and a careful approach to handling customers’ eyewear
Willingness to learn and help across a small business
Comfortable using computers and communicating with customers by email
Previous glazing or specialist frame repair experience is not essential, as training will be provided. Experience with frame adjustments and basic repairs would be useful.

Summary:
Join our Research & Development team and play a hands-on role in developing and improving corrosion-resistant coatings, linings, and fireproofing products. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced lab professionals to support day-to-day operations, contribute to product development, and help ensure quality and performance standards are met.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of at least one year of college-level chemistry coursework or 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
Must pass a Jaeger Eye Test.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to various chemicals, including but not limited to amines, polyamides, isocyanates, epoxies, alkyds, acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
Must be able to pass an annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions:
Operate laboratory instruments and equipment while following established testing procedures.
Maintain accurate, organized laboratory notes and documentation; assist with report writing as needed.
Conduct quality control testing, grade test panels, and collect data for product evaluation and troubleshooting.
Utilize laboratory computer systems for reporting, formula calculations, graphics, and inventory tracking.
Support the preparation and evaluation of lab-scale batches according to prescribed formulas.
Learn and apply coating techniques using spray, roller, and brush methods.
Reference and follow Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for raw materials and finished goods.
Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including proper use of PPE and hazardous material handling.
Proactively identify hazards, support injury prevention efforts, and report incidents promptly.
Collaborate positively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.
Complete required training (including RCRA Hazardous Waste and Contingency Plan) and apply it in daily work.
