Are you a scientifically curious, hands-on researcher looking for a new role? I have an exciting opportunity for a talented scientist to join a growing R&D team and contribute directly to the development of next-generation materials and devices.
This is a largely laboratory-based position in which you will work alongside experienced scientists to design, execute and evaluate novel experimental methodologies. You will play an active role across the full research cycle — from planning experiments and fabricating devices, to analysing results and presenting findings to the wider team.
You will be responsible for planning and performing novel experiments, sometimes with senior scientist and sometimes independently, so a good understanding of scientific fundamentals is vital for this role. You will also be responsible for producing formulations, coating materials, and performing characterisation for novel devices. Data is an important part of any business and so another key part of this role will be to compile, log, and analyse experimental data, which will ultimately help shape the R&D programme.
The company are looking for a junior scientist that has practical experience within an academic of industrial lab setting, coupled with a degree in physics, chemistry or materials science. Any experience gained within a cleanroom setting would be highly advantageous to your application, as would familiarity with metrology systems and fabrication equipment.

We have an important Firmware Engineer role for a growing Defence Sector organisation, aimed at contributing to the development of new technologies that will enhance the defence of the UK and other allied nations, with a focus on defensive technologies rather than offensive.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with an electronics engineering background who can leverage their Firmware Engineering experience along with knowledge of electronics hardware integration. It’s preferable if you have a proven track record of successfully completing complex projects resulting in launched devices.
Some of the project you will be involved in will be focus on the advancing new technologies, pushing boundaries, and doing things that no one has done before. This means you won’t get bored in this role and will continue to develop your careers and skills.
While prior experience in the Defence sector is ideal, we are open to consider candidates from other complex fields.
You will need to hold a degree in a software or electronics field that led you into a Firmware Engineer career. Given the nature of this role in the Defence sector, it will be essential for you to be able to obtain security clearance.
