Building Services Design Engineer Apprentice
Work as part of our project teams to assist in the development of sustainable and cost-effective design solutions, supporting Engineers, Principal Engineers, Associates and Directors.
Undertake engineering calculations.
Assist in the development of designs and the production of drawings.
Develop skills in using engineering software including AutoCad, primarily for 2D drawings, and Revit, primarily for 3D modelling.
Prepare specifications and equipment schedules.
Attend meetings with project teams.
Attend site visits, surveys and inspections – monitoring progress on site and seeing first-hand the designs and projects being brought to life.
Assist with overseeing the construction and testing & commissioning phases.
Represent MZA Consulting Engineers and their core ethos of technical excellence and project delivery with passion, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Contribute to and assist in project and company related activities in support of other MZA team members.
Attend London South Bank University as a day release student (1 day per week) to enable suitable building services qualifications, demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm for continual learning and development.
Training:
You will attend London South Bank University for 1 day per week during term time for the taught element of your degree apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering. All other days will be at MZA offices with 20% of the remaining time allocated to off the job training.
The anticipated duration for this apprenticeship is 78 months (up to 60 months practical period & up to 18 months EPA), but this will depend on any previous experience and the time taken to achieve the full range of competencies to complete the End Point Assessment.
This is a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship and, following successful completion of the End Point Assessment, you will achieve a BEng (Hons) in Building Services Engineering as well as Incorporated Engineer status with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
Training Outcome:
This is a permanent position and during your apprenticeship, after completion of your degree, MZA will be committed to your development and career progression, supporting you as you work towards becoming a fully Chartered engineer.

MZA Consulting Engineers is a building services and acoustic design consultancy based in London, and we work with clients throughout the UK and Ireland across a wide range of industry sectors.
Working Hours :
Our business hours are Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm, and the apprentice will work for 7.5 hours per day. During term time, one of these days will be at London South Bank University for the taught element of the course.
