Main responsibilities and accountabilities
Support the maintenance supervisor in ensuring the manufacturing site is always maintained to an operational level.
Management of contractors on site, ensuring RAMS are in place for all works carried out on site.
Control of maintenance activities and records to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and codes of practice.
Carry out low level electrical repairs.
Carry out mechanical maintenance/repairs on fabrication machinery.
Support the Maintenance Supervisor in carrying out daily TPM checks.
Weekly routine inspection of ladders.
Weekly routine inspections of gas regulators and gas valves.
Support the maintenance engineer is carrying out ad-hoc projects which could include.
Joinery applications.
Plumbing applications.
Car Park Maintenance.
Inspection and replacement of airlines.
Production line repairs or improvements.
Painting/decorating/replacement of floor tiles.
Safety
Adopt a zero-harm culture within all areas of the business to ensure all employees are working safely and adhere to safety policies and practices at all times.
To ensure the workshop area is kept tidy, floor areas are kept clean, walkways are clear from obstruction.
Promote Clean as you Go approach to working
Ensure that all PPE that is issued is worn correctly and used in line with Company H&S policy.
Report any potential infringements of Health and Safety policy or safety practices to the Team Leader or fabrication supervisor.
Always ensure that you are fully conversant with the Risk Assessment associated with your area of work.
Report accidents and near misses immediately to the HR Manager.
General
Undertake any training events necessary to fulfil the role.
Assist and take a proactive approach and be involved with any project work that is being carried out to improve production workflow.
Carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the senior management of the business.

Assist qualified engineers with the inspection, servicing, and repair of powered access equipment, including scissor lifts and boom lifts
Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) under supervision to ensure equipment is safe and ready for hire
Learn how to diagnose faults and carry out basic mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs
Support LOLER inspections by preparing equipment and assisting with checks and documentation
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
Complete job sheets, inspection records, and basic reports accurately

Training:Lift truck and powered access engineering technician level 3.
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.
The training will consist of ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ training.
The ‘off the job’ training includes academic learning which is managed by North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College.
You will be required to attend college on a block release basis for one week every 6 weeks. Employer will pay for travel costs, as well as all food expenses and accommodation, if required. As well as attending college, you will be required to complete a number of assignments and collect your own evidence towards your portfolio.Training Outcome:On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the opportunity to progress into a qualified Engineer role within the company. Overhead Linespersons are overhead line engineers who work at height constructing, maintaining, testing, repairing and replacing overhead lines and equipment.
You will represent National Grid and carry out work handed down by other areas of the business.
Join us, and we’ll see you participate in craft skills activities on the live LV network, on dead LV, HV and EHV circuits (live HV circuits if part of a Hot Glove team). You’ll help with network operations, connect generators and services and organise your own projects. You’ll also:
Construct and alter overhead lines, install pole mounted plant, run and terminate cables to plant and overhead lines
Carry out routine inspection, maintenance and repairs of overhead equipment
Record asset routes, details and positions
Record plant details
Locate and identify cables, test insulation, phasing and continuity on LV cables
Test earthing, voltage, phasing and phase rotation
Carry out switching operations on the LV network
Training:Power Industry Overhead Linesperson Level 3.
The apprenticeship programme takes approximately three years to complete, and you’ll spend your first 12 weeks being inducted onto the programme at one of our Training Centres. You’ll earn while you learn and develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to become a Power Networks Craftsperson, achieving a City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification in Electrical Engineering. Your training will include periods of on-the-job training and development, learning from an experienced and qualified Overhead Linesperson. Following a formal assessment of your knowledge, skills and behaviours, you’ll become a qualified Overhead Linesperson yourself.Training Outcome:
