As an Apprentice Electrician you will learn all about what it takes to make sure our customers’ homes are maintained to a high and safe standard. You will produce work of the highest quality while providing excellent service to our customers, clients, and your team.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will work closely with qualified Electricians carrying out first and second fix electrical work and electrical repairs in a domestic setting. The work will be varied and interesting and you will have the support of a mentor throughout your apprenticeship.
At College, you will study the 4-year Electrical Installation Apprenticeship standard at Level 3 by attending Boston College or a similar provider one day a week, alongside learning and working with experienced operatives during the rest of the week.

The role is to identify damaged mechanical and electrical components on a damaged Car/Light Commercial Vehicle, and remove and refit these components before and after body repair work has been carried out. They typically work on repairing vehicles that have been involved in accidents or similar incidents. This is usually within a collision repair workshop.

Assisting fully trained electricians on day -to- day activities including maintenance, repairs and installation of electrical systems;
Carrying out the installation of new and refurbished electrical systems, using a full range of installation materials and techniques;
Performing routine checking and testing of all types of electrical systems, including the location and repair of faults.
Training:Most of the training will take place at work under the supervision of a qualified electrician with time also spent with a local college/training provider developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours for the electrical apprenticeship standard. Training Outcome:This is a fixed-term contract, lasting up to 48 months for the duration of the practical training plus up to 6 months for the end-point assessment period.
While there is no guarantee of a permanent job with the City Council at the end of this apprenticeship, we have a good record of retaining apprentices. Apprentices will be qualified electricians and well-placed to gain employment elsewhere. Assist in the layout, cabling, and installation of sensor systems, with a focus on electrical integration in R&D projects, pilots, and related systems.
Support in assisting and preparing general assembly diagrams, wiring schematics, and electrical connection flowcharts
Create supporting documentation such as sensor placement diagrams and Bills of Materials (BoM)
Measure and provide accurate dimensioning and tolerances for mounting and installation of components to the team
Assemble electrical and electronic systems such as electrical enclosures, electronic enclosures, PCBs, various electrical connectors, and cabling.
Assist in the assembly, modification, and design of custom enclosures for sensors using 3D printing, moulding, or basic fabrication tools.
Operate and maintain fabrication tools such as soldering irons, 3D printers, and CNC equipment, etc.
Contribute to the assembly, modification, and running of R&D experiments, pilots, and test rigs, including setups for bioreactors and other environments requiring process control and monitoring
Support sensor testing and calibration in these environments, measuring and providing data for R&D and other projects
Help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient workspace and adhere to all safety procedures.
Set a strong example in timekeeping, collaboration, and attention to detail.

The Electrical Installation/Maintentance Apprentice will work alongside the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Maintenance Manager to assist with these tasks, including (once trained) installations and repairs, troubleshooting problems and supporting the calibration of electrical systems and equipment.
Duties will include:
Support for the delivery of a programme of M&E maintenance and repair works, assisted by contractors as required, to ensure our production infrastructure is well maintained including servicing and repairs to plant and equipment
