Field Services Apprentice (Level 4 Electrical Power Networks Engineer)
6 - 12 months of product specific site based training on all aspects of transformer design and manufacture. This will include all areas of the business from the tender stage through to the final test Maintenance, repair, installation and retrofit of the company's range of Tapchanger and Transformer products, both on site and in our Loughborough factory. Apprentice Import Operator
The successful candidate, who will be reporting to the department line supervisor/manager, will be dealing with import shipments and import customer services, for general accounts and larger key account customers. The person will work as a part of the import team and arrange shipments from Scandinavia to UK based customers, by use of the existing DSV road-freight and distribution network across Scandinavia, along with internal UK distribution and warehousing departments. The role will involve communicating with the local DSV depots across the UK and Scandinavia to ensure deliveries are done in accordance with our customers’ requirements. You will be working within our existing team of experienced greenkeepers, initially on basic greenkeeping duties and will then be introduced to equipment and machinery relevant to the role. You will gain experience and be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance and management. The work is physically challenging, and a good level of fitness will be advantageous. You should be prepared for early mornings and working in all weather conditions. Our Course Manager will take an active lead in your development. Key tasks and responsibilities: Understanding & applying Health & Safety law/procedures relevant to your role Preparing our Championship golf course for play daily, e.g. moving tee markers, raking bunkers, removing dew from greens, cutting holes, watering, aerating Preparing, using and maintaining greenkeeping machinery & equipment e.g. mowers, tractors, ride on machines Cutting greens, surrounds, fairways and rough areas Understand strategies for controlling weeds, pests, diseases and turf disorders Training:Training will be provided in the workplace through Myerscough College where you will work towards the Golf Greenkeeper Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard. All students are allocated a personal tutor who they will normally meet with once per semester. As part of our ongoing development and expansion, we are seeking a Landscape Construction Apprentice to join our team to work on both hard and soft landscape construction projects. Scandor undertakes work for a wide range of mainly commercial clients, such as local authorities, county councils, parish councils, schools, and main contractors. The private client work is large scale projects and would be on site for weeks. Tasks will be wide-ranging, including but not limited to groundwork, such as: Excavations to form levels Putting in membranes and gravels Form work for concrete features Paving, kerbing and walling Fencing and decking Grading works together with drainage and top soiling Work on playgrounds such as installation of play equipment, safety surface installations and park furniture Soft landscape works will involve: Tree and shrub planting, which can include semi-mature trees Seeding, turfing, mulching The candidate will be subject to satisfactory progression and will operate plant and equipment such as diggers and dumpers once they attain the relevant training and certificate which will be provided by the company You will be required to learn about horticulture, including: Plant identification and nomenclature - botanic and common names Plant growth and plant health Soil science and cultivation Environment protection Training:You will attend Sparsholt College on a day release basis during term time.
