The role of Electrical Technician
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join the Maintenance team, responsible for delivering day-to-day electrical maintenance, inspection, testing and repairs across the pipeline system. The role supports the safe and reliable operation of electrical infrastructure by responding to faults, resolving equipment issues and maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards. Working closely with technical teams, site supervisors and operations, you will help ensure systems remain efficient, dependable and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Technician:
Carry out maintenance, overhaul, fault finding and repair of electrical equipment using OEM manuals, drawings and engineering documentation.
Respond to breakdowns, support diagnostics, and complete inspections in line with BS7671 and BS60079 standards.
Plan, coordinate and oversee contractor activities, including permits, handovers, and safe isolation procedures.
Maintain accurate records via CMMS, including work orders, parts used, remedial actions, and asset/PPM updates.
Support site operations through calibration of instruments, alarm testing, and maintenance of systems such as SCADA and tank gauging.
Manage stock, liaise with suppliers, and support continuous improvement through audits, training of junior staff, and development of procedures.
Essential Criteria for the Electrical Technician
Qualified Electrical Technician with a recognised time-served apprenticeship and certifications: 18th Edition / BS7671.
Proven experience in petrochemical, Oil and gas or process industry environments, with strong knowledge of permit systems, site safety rules, and ability to interpret technical drawings.
Effective communicator able to work collaboratively across teams while managing workload independently.
Proactive approach with strong ownership, high safety standards, and good IT skills; physically fit with a clean driving licence.
Desirable: additional compex modules (EX01–04), CCNSG, HV Authorised Person, ATG or Rotork experience, COMAH awareness, confined space and first aid training, plus basic mechanical skills.

The role is ideal for individuals looking to build a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, machining, and maintenance practices within a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the maintenance, repair, and build of pump systems, including stripping, inspection, rebuilding, and performance testing in line with engineering specifications.
Support fault finding, diagnostics, and failure analysis of pumps and associated components, progressively taking on greater responsibility.
Carry out component manufacturing and machining tasks, including turning, milling, drilling, and minor modifications using manual machinery (e.g. lathes).
Participate in the assembly, alignment, and installation of rotating equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Undertake minor fabrication and welding tasks under supervision where required.
Maintain high standards of workshop safety, housekeeping, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Systems & Documentation:
Ensure full traceability of components, materials, and processes throughout the repair and manufacturing lifecycle.
Accurately record all work using the company’s ERP system (SAGE), keeping records up to date.
Assist with technical documentation, reporting, and basic design updates, including the use of AutoCAD where applicable.
Working Environment:
Support engineering operations servicing top-tier COMAH sites, adhering to strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to best practices across multiple engineering disciplines.

To support the delivery of high-quality new-build housing projects, working alongside experienced site joiners across a range of residential developments.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Work in compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, always ensuring personal and site safety.
Follow site inductions, risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks, reporting hazards or non-compliances promptly.
Support delivery of work in line with the construction programme, adapting to changes where required.
Prepare work areas by selecting, handling and setting out appropriate materials, tools and equipment.
Measure, mark out, cut and install timber and timber-based products accurately under supervision.
Assist with first fix site carpentry, including structural carcassing, floors, partitions, roofs and staircases.
Assist with second fix carpentry, including doors, skirting, architraves, window boards, service encasements and other finishing elements.
Use, maintain and store hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
Receive, move and handle materials using correct manual handling techniques.
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area, disposing of waste responsibly and sustainably.
Work collaboratively with other trades, supervisors and site management to support build progress.
Follow drawings, specifications, building regulations and quality standards.
Take part in apprenticeship training and continuous professional development to build skills and knowledge.
This is a site-based role, and the applicant must have the ability to drive to different site locations if required. Sites are local to the Newark area
Training:
The apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in L2 Carpentry and Joinery.

This is a day-release programme, which means you will attend Lincoln College, one day a week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.
