GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Maintenance Technician supports and ensures the completion of day-to-day maintenance activities at the plant. The position provides support to leadership for all maintenance staff to drive excellence and maximize effort. The position focuses on maintaining high-quality standards through the efforts expended at the facility that meet and exceed customer expectations while maintaining a professional and equally efficient environment for all production employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform standard work in a safe manner by following all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
Inspect and repair plant equipment, including but not limited to mechanical, welding, carpentry, electrical, instrumentation and controls to minimize downtime.
Document accurate maintenance activity records.
Clean and maintain assigned areas and tools to ensure proper functionality.
Participate in the continuous improvement process.
Report incidents, near misses, and any non-conformances through the appropriate channels.
Exemplify the expected values of organization including following policies and standard work procedures.
Give input on and coordinate maintenance supply purchases.
Perform Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure completion and accuracy.
Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Cross-train on other production functions to aid as business need dictates.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
One-year certificate from college, technical school or manufacturing training program.
One additional year of experience plus high school diploma/GED in lieu of higher education is acceptable.
Two additional years of experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Maintenance Technician II: 1+ year of experience
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Capable of installing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC; AC/DC drive motors preferred
Ability to troubleshoot electric, air systems, and hydraulic systems
Knowledge of lockout/tagout, arc flash requirements, confined space entry and hot work permit
Ability to work overtime as needed; ability to meet deadlines
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond urgently to down equipment
Effective team player, self-motivated, quick learner
Good communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English

The business is looking for an apprentice to train alongside our existing experienced team of engineers in all aspects of operational, maintenance engineering (mechanical) duties. As an apprentice, you will study a range of programmes working towards a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship standard, covering a variety of skills and qualifications while earning a wage and completing invaluable practical skills in industry.
Apprentice technicians will undertake the following: installation, testing, servicing, removal, replacement, maintenance, and repair of a range of equipment, sometimes complex, as part of planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
They may also undertake decommissioning activities when plant is being removed from service.
Candidates should be confident, keen, enthusiastic, and committed with a positive attitude to work. This is an ideal opportunity to learn all aspects of maintenance and operations engineering (mechanical) and achieve an advanced apprenticeship qualification, with the second-largest titanium dioxide producer in the world.
Initially based at The Catch facility (Stallingborough) then on site following a day shift pattern – with a shift placement – where apprentices are required to work both the day and night shift with experienced engineers to gain hands-on learning.

Task consist of a proactive planned workbasket that include but not limited too, cleaning and calibrating instrumentation, completing Water Quality laboratory checks, fault finding and diagnoses of treatment issues, integrating trend data, cleaning of process tanks, completing small scale pipework repairs, working with electrical and mechanical colleagues to resolve faults and accepting chemical deliveries, all to ensure compliance with water quality standards, environmental regulations and ensure health and safety, and process safety is achieved and managed across all 4 Leeds and Harrogate Water Treatement Works.
A key element of the role is chemical and process optimisation of the clean water treatment processes to achieve the water production optimal plan and manage cost. You will lead optimisation activities and share best practice, ensuring that water production service outage is minimised at all times.
