Apprentice Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities During Apprenticeship: Assist in the preparation of fire alarm and life safety system designs under supervision. Learn to interpret and apply British Standards and relevant specifications. Support the design team with AutoCAD and Bluebeam documentation. Training:Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN): Depending on the vacancy title, you will be undertaking either a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship. Level 2 comprises of: Duration approximately 18 months. Block release training which includes 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects, working to complete the following qualifications: EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills) EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge) Level 3 comprises of: Duration approximately 40–45 months. Years 1/2 is a combination of off-the-job training at HWGTA Training Centre as well as training on-site with your employer. This includes 29–42 weeks within the training Centre plus 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects and complete the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge. Years 3/4 based full-time in the company, developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3 qualification. Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed. Our Woodmill Operator Apprentice play an integral part in shaping and manipulating the timber into the required pieces to assemble the frame. A high attention to detail is essential as is the passion to learn how to use machinery. This role really suits you if you have an interest in working with wood and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. You should be comfortable working with your hands, multiple materials and be capable of a lot of manual handling and heavy lifting. You will take pride in your work, solving problems and maintain good quality. A high attention to detail is essential as well as being comfortable using hand and air tools. In the role we will give you the training you need. Frame Assembler Apprentice

As a Frame Assembler Apprentice, you will use several different materials, assembling them using various tools and glue to create a fixed frame structure. This then will move forward to the upholstery section where it is turned into finished pieces of furniture. A high attention to detail is essential as well as being comfortable using hand and air tools. In the role, we will give you the training you need. The role requires some lifting and manoeuvring of finished frame structures. You will be assembling wooden frames for sofas and furniture using a variety of materials. Use hand tools, power tools, including air-powered staple guns with glue to securely fix parts together, ensuring a sturdy and durable structure. Follow detailed assembly instructions to ensure frames are built to specifications and meet quality standards. Inspect frame components for any defects or damage before assembly, reporting any issues. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines.
