Black Country Women’s Aid Let us introduce ourselves… Black Country Women’s Aid (BCWA) is an established charity working across the Black Country and wider West Midlands providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking. Services range from advocacy, civil remedies, support in court, individual and group support and access to a range of therapeutic interventions. All services are client and needs-led. Community Services Directorate Within this directorate, the following vital services are delivered; Black Country Women’s Aid Community Services include; • Community Domestic Abuse Support Services (Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley) • Black Country IRIS (primary care) educator and advocacy service • Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Services (Black Country)• Black Country Sexual Abuse Forum• Black Country Counselling Service • Domestic and sexual abuse Children and Young person’s service (Black Country)• West Midlands Stalking Service• Ask Marc (Male abuse referral centre) This position is located within the Community Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Service The BCWA Community Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Service supports victims of domestic violence and abuse in Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall through a range of contracted/commissioning arrangements. The service works in partnership with other services within BCWA and key agencies to assess risk and provide tailored support plans for service users. Our integrated approach provides effective holistic support for survivors of abuse using a trauma-informed approach. The team: Our Children and Young People’s (Flourishing Futures) Specialist Advocates vulnerable children between the ages of 8 and 14 years who have been affected by domestic abuse at home. This will be delivered through the NSPCC Dart (domestic abuse recovering together) Programme. The Dart Programme is a programme recognised by the home office. We aim to provide a responsive, needs-led service to children and young people, creating a positive culture and environment, enabling them to achieve their potential. Male Specialist Abuse Advocate Pathfinder Court
A new and exciting opportunity to become Pathfinder IDVA. This service is funded by West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, to provide Domestic Abuse (DA) support services within the Birmingham Family Court in relation to private law proceedings. The aim of the Pathfinder programme is to provide better support to children and families involved in private law proceedings, with enhanced support to victims/survivors of DA. The IDVA service will offer support to DA Victims involved in Family Court Proceedings. This will involve emotional support, safety planning, assistance with legal proceedings and access to other support services, tailored to the individual needs of victims. Additionally, IDVAs will collaborate with and advise other agencies involved in the Pathfinder to ensure a coordinated response to better protect victims of DA. The Pathfinder IDVA Service must be available to all male victims of DA involved in Family Court private law proceedings. The post holder will provide targeted outreach and raise awareness of male violence and abuse for male victims going through Family court, they will support the victim through the process and ensure that the child’s experience is paramount throughout. This role requires an individual with compassion, empathy and excellent interpersonal skills. All victims should get the help and support they need.
