The dental nurse plays an important role within the team and reports to the senior Dental Nurses, the Practice Manager and the Dentists.
The role is to assist the dentist with all clinical aspects of the surgery as well as supporting the other team members.
They should adopt proficient surgery procedures, ensuring the best utilisation of surgery time.
Greet and care for all patients within your care in a polite and courteous manner at all times, providing excellent patient care, maintaining excellent standards of cross-infection control in all clinical areas, decontamination of instruments, equipment and materials
Adhering at all times to the systems and protocols in line with company strategy, goals and values
Always be aware of patient confidentiality and data (health history) protection
Duties will include:
Assist patients into surgery, settle them in the chair and prepare them for treatment
Provide patient with personal protective equipment
Produce instruments and materials as necessary during treatment
Provide chairside assistance during all dental procedures, charting of teeth and restorations
Ensure all lab work is checked and available prior to the patient’s arrival
Develop, file, mount and log all X-rays, whilst adhering to the relevant safety procedures
Maintain a clean environment during surgery. Cleaning and sterilising instruments after each patient, adhering to the company policy on cross-infection
Ensure all clinical waste is disposed of in the appropriate manner compliant with current regulation
Escort the patient from the surgery and when necessary to the reception area
Ensure all equipment is maintained as per manufacturer’s instructions and are cleaned appropriately
Ensure use of checklists provided which clearly outline a schedule of daily and weekly tasks
Switch equipment on in the morning and ensure it is switched off again at the end of each working session
Ensure that adequate stocks of expendable drugs, materials and instruments are available
Ensure that all repairs are reported promptly to the practice manager

The apprentice will learn safeguarding, child development, health and safety, and childcare best practice as part of the apprenticeship.Training:The apprentice will complete the Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship. This can be negotiable based on current qualifications.
During the apprenticeship, the apprentice will work towards achieving the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard, a nationally recognised qualification that develops the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to work in an early years setting in line with the EYFS framework.
Where and when the training will take place:
This is a work‑based apprenticeship, with the majority of training taking place within the nursery/setting. The apprentice will be supported by a dedicated apprenticeship tutor who will carry out regular workplace visits to deliver training, observations, and progress reviews.
College attendance is not required unless the apprentice needs to achieve Functional Skills in English and/or maths, in which case attendance may be required as agreed with the training provider.
The apprentice will complete a minimum of 20% off‑the‑job training during paid working hours, which is integrated into normal working patterns and may include coaching, guided learning, assessments, and reflective activities.
Training pattern:
Training is delivered through a blended, work‑based model, rather than block release. There is no fixed college day; off‑the‑job training is equivalent to one day per week, but this is typically planned flexibly within the workplace.
At the end of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will complete an End Point Assessment (EPA) to demonstrate full competence and achieve the apprenticeship qualification.Training Outcome:

Learn how to accurately seam, stretch and edge finishing
Work safely with hand / power tools and cutting equipment.
Follow site safety regulations and maintain a clean workspace.
Develop knowledge of different flooring materials and their applications.
Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Attend college/training sessions as required to complete your apprenticeship standard.
Training:During your Standard Level 2 Floor Layer apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at FITA training facility in Loughborough on a block basis for a week at a time every 10 weeks, costs are covered by the employer.
You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.
Training will be provided in all areas of floor laying to ensure you can create practical and quality installations using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose installations.Training Outcome:
