We're looking for an experienced NPI Manufacturing Engineer to support the introduction of a new high-reliability product into production. This is a hands-on role focused on New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing process development and production support, ensuring products transition from design into manufacture with robust, efficient and repeatable processes.
Working closely with Design, Production and Quality teams, you'll develop and validate manufacturing processes, resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement throughout the NPI lifecycle.
The Role
Lead manufacturing process development and industrialisation activities for new products.
Support NPI projects from prototype through to production release.
Develop, validate and optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency and repeatability.
Support prototype, first-off and qualification builds, ensuring production readiness.
Investigate production issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Produce manufacturing documentation including work instructions, validation plans, PFMEA input and risk assessments.
Work closely with Design Engineering to improve Design for Manufacture (DFM) and resolve manufacturability issues.
Validate manufacturing processes, production equipment and tooling prior to release.
Provide hands-on technical support to Production and Quality teams.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
About You
You'll be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or possess equivalent industry experience) and have proven experience in an NPI, Manufacturing, Process or Industrialisation Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
You'll also have:
Strong experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development.
Experience validating manufacturing processes and supporting production ramp-up.
Excellent root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
Experience working collaboratively with Production, Quality and Design teams.
Knowledge of FMEA, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with adhesive bonding, moulding, brazing, pressure or leak testing, or introducing complex electromechanical products into manufacture, would be highly advantageous.

Working alongside experienced and qualified staff you will learn all aspects of Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance (Multi-skilled).
Working under supervision you will work towards being responsible for the following tasks:
Completing changeovers to a production plans
Plan and prepare for maintenance and repairs of engineered systems in the food and drink industry
Carrying out checks and maintenance as outlined within the PPM (Planned, Preventative Maintenance) scheme
Involvement in multi-skilling (cross discipline) duties as appropriate
Understand and apply Food & Drink principles to your role
Carry out reasonable instructions from Lead Engineers or Senior Managers
Ensure that all Health and Safety standards are maintained and that you show due diligence at all times
Apply ‘best practice’ techniques
Comply with all company policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, training & development, quality, disciplinary & grievance and sickness & absence etc.
To carry out any other reasonable requests to meet the needs of the business
Apprentices should learn the skills which are recognised across the industry, and participate in classes, workshops, and on-the-job training
Apprentices should take part in regular progress reviews and an end-point assessment
Training:We have partnered with Wigan & Leigh College who will deliver the training on the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
Year 1 – You will be based at the College in Wigan for majority of the year returning to Site over the mandated College Holidays.
Year 2 – You will be based onsite majority of the time (trained and assessed) with smaller blocks at Wigan & Leigh College.
Year 3 – You will be based onsite majority of the time (trained and assessed) with smaller blocks at Wigan & Leigh College.

Ensuring that all customer orders and enquiries are actioned promptly, providing feedback to commercial administrators on expected ship dates, quotes and any other enquiries raised to maintain exceptional customer service
Raising and administration of design work for customer orders and development work
Creation and management of system stock codes, as well as input and maintenance of bills of materials and price information
Evaluation and organisation of design and assembly workload
Working with internal and external supplier base to ensure customer orders are completed on time
Purchase order processing of both direct and indirect items
Replenishment of inventoried items and raw materials
Monitoring of inventory profiles by product type and processing stock movements
Assist with production control administration for the workshop
Continuous investigation of supply market, supplier and capacity evaluation
Actively participating in ensuring company performance measures are met, in particular those related to service levels
Assisting stores operatives with part picking and assembly during holiday periods or during times of unusually high demand
Collating and pursuing information required for input to AESSEAL knowledge database
