GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Machine Operator starts, troubleshoots, and operates manufacturing equipment safely. There are three Machine Operator levels (I, II, & III). We are looking for a multi skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Fine Tubes. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance as well as responding to emergency machine break downs throughout the plant. They will be focused on improving the reliability of machines, installation and movements of existing machines, overhaul and repair of machines and equipment as well as ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities include:
• To adhere to Company Rules / Health and Safety / Environmental Standards and Practices.
• Carry out Preventative Planned Maintenance tasks to ensure all assets are safe and reliable for use. • Fault finding on all assets, identify and repair machine breakdowns.
• Identifying and supporting corrective actions on asset/process limitations.
• Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits.
• To attend training and continuous development opportunities when required.
• Continuously look to improve reliability and cost effectiveness of all assets.
• Contribution to the company objectives and values. Essential Requirements:
• Proven record of actively promoting safe working practices.
• Time served in a Maintenance Engineering role within a Manufacturing environment, ideally with a mechanical bias.
• Basic knowledge of PLC control systems.
• Ability to undertake shift work (Annualised Hours pattern*), overtime and call outs as required.
• Knowledge and understanding of 5s and lean manufacturing techniques.
• Proficient in the use of IT software for example Microsoft.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes and safety glasses.

JOB REQUIREMENTS KEY RESPONSBILITIES Annualised Hours Pattern* Core work hours are Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (equating to 37.5 hours per week). Whilst working the Maintenance shift pattern, you are paid to work the following shifts below each year: -10 Weeks of Back Shifts (1 in 5) - 3pm – 11pm (with a 30-minute unpaid break) - 5 Weeks of Night Shifts (1 in 10) - 11pm – 7am (with a 30-minute unpaid break) - 10 Weekends - Saturday 7am – 3pm and Sunday 7am – 3pm* (with a 30-minute unpaid break). What You'll Be Doing
Perform detailed inspections on newly manufactured, repaired, and modified equipment at all stages — pre, during, and post qualification testing
Carry out visual, dimensional, and gauging inspections using precision tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs
Conduct inspection surveys on returned operational equipment, both customer-owned and company-owned
Perform Quality Control checks at key process stages, including prior to final shipment and job card completion
Witness pressure testing of components and equipment to verify compliance with certification standards
Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on components for certification purposes (where qualified)
Identify and report any non-conformances; raise NCRs and support corrective action processes
Work in line with Goods Inwards Quality Procedures and support overall compliance with ISO 9001
Maintain inspection equipment to ensure it is safe, clean, calibrated, and fit for purpose
Keep detailed and accurate records of inspections, quality checks, and relevant documentation
What We're Looking For
Experience in a similar quality inspection role within engineering or manufacturing
Confident interpreting technical drawings and understanding geometric tolerances (GD&T)
Familiarity with workshop processes and inspection of mechanical components and assemblies
Understanding of risk assessments, job cards, and engineering test procedures
Comfortable working to structured procedures, while remaining adaptable when needed
Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
High attention to detail and a proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving
Good communication skills across teams and departments
Desirable (But Not Essential):
Internal Quality Auditor training or experience
Experience operating or programming CMMs
Knowledge or certification in NDT techniques
Familiarity with quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, or FMEA

DESCRIPTION
Part of the Manufacturing Team, responsible for the inspection, assembly and unit testing of Linear Accelerators and associated sub-assemblies and products.
The production assembly activity builds and tests a wide range of electro/mechanical sub-assemblies and systems.
The assemblies are built to controlled work instructions and drawings.
Where required the assemblies may be tested to a Production Test Schedule (PTS).
Both the assembly and test activities may necessitate the use of specialist tools or test equipment as specified within Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, drawing package or Production Test Schedules.
Device History Records (DHR) are compiled and completed during assembly and testing processes via the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
Test results are recorded within MES which are determined by the associated PTS and this will include recording test results, serial numbers of parts/assemblies and P numbers of test equipment (i.e. their equipment ID numbers).
Faulty components and non-conforming material are rejected using the NCR procedure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the assembly and test of the product to the drawing specification and relevant Production Test Schedule (PTS) ensuring all build and test documentation used is the correct issue.
When material or assembly quality problems are identified an NCR must be raised and the appropriate short term corrective action taken (i.e. repair or reject), ensuring the NCR process is followed.
If for any reason the specification is found to be incorrect or sub-standard then a change request must be raised to identify the problem so appropriate development actions can be taken to resolve the issue.
To fault find problems and where necessary replace and retest non-conforming parts.
To maintain a clean and safe working environment, taking responsibility for tools, equipment, test bay and any product being tested.
Use appropriate PPE and adhere to all necessary safety protocols.
Designated trainers are responsible for training other operators in applicable assembly and test procedures.
Where required, ESD precautions must be followed.
Assist other functions within the business such as production, spares, service, or training as directed by the Mfg Manger – Systems Test. This could include the need to assist with testing products, fault finding, assisting other departments or personnel.
AUTHORITIES
Complete tasks and documentation where covered by current training records.
Complete non-conformance reports and sign off tasks where covered by current training records.
