Quality Inspector - Overview:
Our client who are based in Coventry are looking for a Quality Inspector to join their team. They specialise in precision engineering, providing high-quality CNC machining and manufacturing solutions for aerospace, automotive, F1 and industrial sectors. Known for their innovation and expertise, they deliver reliable, bespoke components to meet demanding industry standards.
Quality Inspector Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of machined components using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs, shadow graphs, and verniers).
- Interpret and analyze engineering drawings and specifications to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance.
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections, documenting results and maintaining accurate records.
- Identify and report any non-conformances or quality issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work closely with the production team to ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
- Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Assist in audits and compliance checks to maintain certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency.
Quality Inspector Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a precision engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.
- Proficient in using manual and automated measuring equipment.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Fitter - Fitters put together components and sub-assemblies that go into the aircraft on our customers’ final assembly lines. Fitters work to manufacturing and engineering instructions/drawings and will use skills including Drilling, reaming and countersinking, Riveting and bolting, Using automated/robotic drilling equipment, Functional testing of mechanical systems
Machinist - Our Integrated Machining Facility manufactures small and large components. Materials used are Aluminium, Titanium, Steel and Composite Materials. Skills/knowledge developed will include Operating 3, 4 & 5 axis CNC Milling machine tools, Operating co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM), conventional and digital measuring equipment, Understanding processes, procedures and engineering drawings
Training:
Year 1: The majority of your first year will be working offsite at college completing your foundation training. Towards the end of the first year, you’ll complete a return to site induction followed by onsite training
Years 2 & 3: You will undertake Business Familiarisation rotation placements. During your placements, you will document work that you complete review this regularly with your GKN training advisor
Year 4: You’ll be assigned to your final department. Your practical observation assessments will be completed, alongside the underpinning knowledge questions. You’ll also complete the End Point Assessment (EPA)
Training Outcome:
Progression into a full-time role after completion, but this is not guaranteed
Further progression may well be available in other areas within our sector, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship

Being taught in our onsite Manufacturing Skills Development Centre, you will develop the skills to carry out production processes safely, efficiently and to outstanding quality.
You will spend 1 day a week in the classroom learning theory and 4 days a week doing practical production work in a shop.
You will undertake both classroom and on the job hand skills training, carrying out 3 different production placements in our various shops.
To develop your teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, you will also spend time away from site on an outdoor activity residential.
You will be taught about the Toyota Production System and our core philosophies of Continuous Improvement and Respect for People.
Training:
Production apprentices will complete their training in our onsite Manufacturing Skills Development Centre.
