The role will be primarily based at our modern workshop in the Waverley area near the AMRC Training Centre. There will, however, be opportunities to work at customer sites. It also includes the need to understand and confirm that the finished product quality meets project requirements prior to release for final inspection, assisting with inspection & stores requirements when needed

As an Apprentice Engineering Fitter, you every day at Amey will be different! One day, you might be repairing MEWPs, and another one you will be working with generators and drills. You will be responsible for repairing all types of plant and equipment when required and ensure that the equipment is maintained in accordance with relevant standards and procedures. The plant can include MEWP’s, drilling rigs, lorry-based MEWP’s, generators, and drill.
Work with all onsite plant, this includes gantries, cradles, vehicles, and trailers, etc.
Six monthly maintenance and servicing of the gantries, include dismantling & changing of gear boxes, drive motors and on a six yearly cycle removing components (drive bogies, etc.) for ISE works
Work at height and over the water (River Severn, Wye & Avon)
Compliance with the Maintenance Management System/Programs in accordance with approved maintenance manuals/schedules
Ensure that all documentation, work orders and service sheets are completed and returned to the office for approvals

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform standard work in a safe manner by following all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
Inspect and repair plant equipment, including but not limited to mechanical, welding, carpentry, electrical, instrumentation and controls to minimize downtime.
Document accurate maintenance activity records.
Clean and maintain assigned areas and tools to ensure proper functionality.
Participate in the continuous improvement process.
Report incidents, near misses, and any non-conformances through the appropriate channels.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
One-year certificate from college, technical school or manufacturing training program.
One additional year of experience plus high school diploma/GED in lieu of higher education is acceptable.
Two additional years of experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable.

Experience in 480-volt 3 phase electricity required (Preferred in some locations)

Knowledge of lockout/tagout, arc flash requirements, confined space entry and hot work permit

You will start by shadowing experienced engineers onsite and gradually take on responsibilities such as:
• Strategy Modifications – Understanding and applying changes to optimise system performance.• Service & Maintenance Visits – Assisting with routine checks and ensuring systems run smoothly.• Remote Access Configuration – Learning how to set up and manage remote connectivity for BMS systems.YESNO• Call-Outs – Supporting engineers in responding to urgent issues and troubleshooting problems and attending at a later date.• Paperwork & Reporting – Preparing accurate documentation and reports following site visits.Through this structured approach, you will gain the technical knowledge and confidence to progress into a skilled role within our business.• Assist in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of BMS systems.• Learn to diagnose and resolve technical issues with building automation systems.• Work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects.• Gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies and software.
