1.4 Assists in the preparation of care plans, and in final discussions with the Service User.
Implementation of Care Plans
2.1 Participates in discussions with the Service User targeted at ensuring that the match between the Service User and the Support Worker is appropriate to the Service User’s needs.

Administration and Miscellaneous
4.1 Maintains accurate and up-to-date records as required in relation to the services provided to the Service User, including tasks undertaken, training given etc.
4.2 Attends and participates in staff meetings and team briefings so that team members may benefit from the experiences of others, and contribute to service development and improvement.
4.3 Reports accidents, near misses, unusual incidents etc in line with agreed and laid-down procedures.

Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
To advise the Practice Manager of any faulty or poorly functioning equipment so that action may be taken to remedy any defects
Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
Ensure the care and welfare of patients
To keep accurate records and ensure the recording methods are used in line with practice policy and current medico-legal guidelines
Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal and fire drills
Develop and file radiographs and change radiographic solutions as directed
To make certain that an efficient link with the dental laboratories is upheld to prevent delays in the dispatch and receipt of work
Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
Order new stock supplies as necessary
Ensure computer / written records are accurately maintained and securely stored
Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
To maintain patient confidentiality
Attend and participate in practice meetings
Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice to ensure that patients receive a high quality of patient care
To be flexible with your duties to ensure the smooth running of the practice
Undergo training as may be required to develop skills and abilities
Attend refresher and update training for medical emergencies and CPR on an annual basis
Training:
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing
Dental Nurse (integrated) Standard
In-house training will be given by an experienced team and the apprenticeship qualification will be provided by Oldham College
You will be required to attend Oldham College for half a day a week
Training Outcome:
Qualified Dental Nurse
With experience you could:
Move into a team leader, manager or dental practice manager position
Become a dental hygienist or dental therapist with further training
Become an orthodontic therapist to help dentists improve the look and position of patient's teeth
