In this role you will ensure that all equipment and machinery—both modern and ageing—remain safe, reliable and fully operational through effective reactive and preventative maintenance.
By supporting breakdown response, planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities, the apprentice helps maintain plant performance, uphold safety standards and contribute to the smooth running of a modern steel production facility.
You’ll be supporting the installation, maintenance and improvement of mechanical and electrical systems across the site, carrying out both reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of equipment.
The role involves working on both modern and older plant within a busy steel production environment, responding to breakdowns and helping put corrective actions in place.
You’ll assist with planned, preventative and predictive maintenance, take part in condition checks, refurbishment work and continuous improvement activities, and maintain high housekeeping standards throughout all work areas.
You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan and organise maintenance tasks, while reading and interpreting technical data, drawings and documentation.
A key part of the role is identifying opportunities to improve processes and working practices.
You’ll also support equipment installation, testing, commissioning and confirmation testing, all while ensuring safe working at all times and following all Health & Safety regulations.

Provide administrative support for learning events, whether in person, virtual or hybrid including making room, equipment and catering bookings
Effectively communicate upcoming training events, resources and other L&D opportunities to the firm using our Canva templates and firm branding

Training:

We will then organise a full L&D induction delivered by the Head of L&D and L&D Manager to get them up to speed on our processes and systems

Role overview: To lead the software development of a high-level autonomy capability to be deployed to all Kraken autonomous vehicles. This is a diverse R&D-led role covering vessel guidance, mission frameworks and behaviours, obstacle avoidance, and other high-level capabilities including modern AI techniques.
Most development will require strong expertise with C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, DDS, and embedded Linux environments. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising autonomy algorithms and systems in both experimental and production settings. You should be comfortable handling complex workloads across R&D, prototyping, and mission-critical production deployments.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
