Overview
As a Category Advisor - Manager, you will be a strategic partner to Walmart's merchandising team, driving growth across multiple categories. With expanded scope and responsibility, you'll apply your CPG experience, data expertise, and leadership skills to deliver insights, influence decisions, and optimize category performance.
You will also manage one direct report, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance oversight to support team and business objectives.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development: Provide direct supervision and mentorship to one category analyst, supporting their professional development and ensuring alignment with strategic goals
Category Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive sales, profitability, and market share.
Data-Driven Insights: Utilize Walmart Luminate, JDA Space Planning, Circana/Nielsen, and other syndicated data sources to identify opportunities for category expansion, SKU optimization, and competitive differentiation.
Assortment & Space Optimization: Conduct Opportunity Gap Analyses, identify brand gaps, and leverage qualitative and quantitative data to recommend assortment and space improvements.
Retailer Collaboration: Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor to Walmart's buyers and merchants, providing insights that influence category decisions.
Space Management: Utilize space management technologies to build and implement modular resets that enhance the shopper experience and maximize category productivity.
Market & Competitive Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry and consumer trends, analyze competitor activities, and develop strategies to address evolving market dynamics.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with internal teams across sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance to align category strategies with broader business objectives.
Education/ Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance
7 - 10 years of experience in Category Management, Shopper Insights, or Sales within a CPG manufacturer or brokerage firm.
3+ years of experience informally leading others and / or multiple complex projects or initiatives.
3+ years of experience managing or mentoring a direct report, with demonstrated ability to provide coaching and performance feedback
Proficiency in Walmart Luminate, JDA Space Planning, Circana, Nielsen, Numerator, and other syndicated data tools.

Develop an ongoing strategy to manage and grow existing business within existing markets and with all new strategic markets developed by WTI or Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance management. Assess daily operational situations to identify potential crisis management, safety, and escalation protocols. Determine solutions to project issues, including but not limited to field resource management, workload balance, job site conditions, and product management issues. Travel to job sites as needed to provide support to regional resources, including rooftop projects. Travel to customer or sales meetings as needed to support business or regional activities. Manage all WTI personnel in the assigned region, with personnel numbers ranging from 10 to over 100, depending on the region's sales volume. Develop regional resources for daily operations, growth, and employee development. Identify resource or employee concerns and resolve them promptly, engaging the appropriate HR or WTI management as needed. Ensure that documentation on employee issues is submitted promptly to the HR department. Act as an agent of change and improvement, and adapt quickly to changing business priorities. Manage regional financial data, including identifying trends, correcting utilization, and addressing issues related to gross margin and/or operating income. Review individual job financials and make necessary adjustments to address poor performance and prevent recurring problems. Forecast, analyze, and report on sales, establishing financial performance metrics. Define criteria for success and provide leadership to achieve regional team goals. Develop workforce planning, recruiting, and retention strategies to optimize the region's performance. Prior experience clearly defines expectations, articulating ideas, thoughts, and views, and providing continual, timely, frank, and direct feedback to others. My client is one of the worlds leading manufacturers within their industry with a privately owned business They are currently looking for a skilled Graduate Acoustic Consultant to join their growing Acoustics team.
The Role - Graduate Acoustic Consultant:
- Carry out site visits, noise surveys and sound insulation testing (in line with BS4142, BS8233, ProPG, Approved Document E, etc.)
- Work with measurement equipment and modelling software (e.g., NTi, Bruel & Kjaer, CadnaA)
- Analyse data and produce clear, client-ready technical reports
- Liaise with clients, contractors and local authorities, representing the company on-site and during meetings
- Assist senior consultants with project planning, data processing and documentation
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Graduate Acoustic Consultant:
Essential:
- Degree in Acoustics, Physics, Maths, Music Technology, or similar
(We welcome Maths A-Level and practical problem-solving backgrounds)
- Confident communicator, able to work independently on site
- Practical mindset and comfortable working on construction sites
- Full UK driving licence a company van (with personal use allowed) is included
- Willingness to travel across the UK for site visits
Desirable:
- Up to 12 years experience in Acoustics
- Familiarity with British Standards and acoustic assessment techniques
- Working knowledge of measurement kit and modelling tools
- IOA Diploma (or interest in completing it support provided)
