Follow workshop safety procedures and regulations (e.g., PPE, fire safety, manual handling)
Identify and control hazards in the workplace

Training:Level 3 Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Standard:
Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair, including safety precautions, panel preparation and body measurements
Ability to identify the material used in the construction to enable the correct joining techniques and manufacturer specifications to be adhered to
Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to make sure that any joints are in line with vehicle manufacturer specification and the vehicle/body panels are aligned correctly
Ability to identify and understand the correct joining technology, e.g., when to use resistance spot welding or mig brazing or bonding
Ability to remove, repair and replace vehicle body panels and components of the vehicle safely and efficiently
Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process, panel pulling systems, jig and alignment tools, spot welders, brazing tools
Ability to identify and communicate supplementary damage such as panels that were deemed to be reparable but once worked on were found to be beyond repair along with damage that could not be established on original inspection
Ability to detect and rectify faults within a vehicles structure that’s integral to its safety

Depending on the vacancy title, you will be undertaking either a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship.
Level 2 comprises of:
Duration approximately 18 months.
Block release training which includes 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects, working to complete the following qualifications:
EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)

Level 3 comprises of:
Duration approximately 40–45 months.
Years 1/2 is a combination of off-the-job training at HWGTA Training Centre as well as training on-site with your employer. This includes 29–42 weeks within the training Centre plus 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects and complete the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge.
Years 3/4 based full-time in the company, developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3 qualification.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

The comprehensive programme provides you with an exciting and challenging opportunity to achieve formal qualifications through extensive training, while in full-time employment.
A Multi-Skilled Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has taken some type of collision damage. This will involve learning the skills required to take an accident damaged vehicle through various stages of repair to the pre-accident condition.
These fall into three main areas of skills training:
MET-Mechanical, Electrical & Trim. Candidates will learn remove and refit processes of all main vehicle systems including air conditioning, vehicle alignment and Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems
Panel-repair. Candidates will learn to repair bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects and carrying out techniques such as welding, bond and riveting and correcting misalignment
Paint-surface repair. Candidates will learn how to prepare surfaces and carry out paint refinishing through the following techniques; sealing, masking, priming, application of base coat & lacquer, repairing defects and polishing
Duties will include:
Accurately and skilfully undertake all aspects of the motor vehicle body repair
Detect and diagnose any additional faults for further repair
Working under direct supervision at all times to achieve full competence and qualification
Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines
Any other ad hoc duties and when required
In addition to this you will also gain IMI qualifications in air conditioning, electric vehicle (EV) systems, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and welding
Training:
The programme for the Multi-Skill Accident Repair Apprenticeship level 3 incorporates underpinning knowledge delivered in partnership and managed by EMTEC College based in Nottingham, you will be required to travel to Nottingham for 7 seperate weeks across each year. Travel and accomadation costs with be covered by Halo
Apprentices will be required to have or achieve level 2 in English and maths prior to completion of their apprenticeship
Regular review and welfare visits from appointed assessors who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace
Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the role holder will progress to full-time employment with the company
