Every day is different within the Service department. As a Autocare Technicians/Mechanics apprentice, some of your duties will include:
Use of diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
Testing of parts and systems to ensure correct working
Following checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined
Carrying out bumper to bumper overview, service, and inspection
Maintenance of electronic systems including on- board entertainment systems
Completion of legible and accurate paperwork for the customers and centres records
Maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment

Due to the safety assessment of the site, candidates should be 18 years or older.
To carry out preparation, testing and reporting on submitted samples, by agreed methodology, as directed by senior personnel. This will include all basic testing and preparation and will be with the use of basic and advanced instrumentation techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Performing sample analysis to an acceptable standard and inaccordance with established procedures (results may requirechecking by senior personnel)
Maintaining accurate records of testing and sample observations and calculations
Producing reports for samples tested and input of sample results into the computer system
Undertaking miscellaneous duties, as requested and approved by senior personnel
Participating in Inter and Intra Laboratory Correlation Schemes
Maintenance of acceptable housekeeping in the main laboratory
Ensuring that all equipment within the section is maintained to acceptable operating and (where appropriate) with valid calibration standards. Ensure all weekly/monthly equipment calibrations are carried out in the main laboratory
Ensuring the housekeeping in the laboratory is at an acceptable standard at all times - each shift is to clean up before they finish
Carry out testing in accordance with the relevant documented standards and test methods
Assist with audits (when asked by the senior personnel) and ensuring compliance at all times with any local systems, rules and procedures, including external accreditation (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 18001, ISO 14001 etc.) set by the company and/or external certification authorities and ensuring that appropriate quality assurance controls are carried out on a regular basis within the section

Barton Firtop operates a custom-built manufacturing plant in Worcestershire (UK), which includes a pipework/vessel fabrication division. Additionally, we wholly own a competitive manufacturing facility in Goa, India, which supplies fully machined and tested cast products sourced from high-quality ISO-approved foundries. Barton Firtop India has been a trusted supplier to worldwide projects via our UK head office for over 20 years.

Full Resprays:
Variation from colour change of a new vehicle into company or client livery to a total respray of a used item that has either been either damage repair or shot blasted ready for a refinished update
Panel repairs:
Repairs to panels on plant or road vehicles to a high standard. This could include, panel beating, metal repairs, welding finishing with filler/stopper, paint build up and final refinishing
Shot Blasting:
Shotblasting of repaired metal work, fabrication work, welding repairs, crack detection, prior to refinishing to OEM standards
Stripping and Refitting:
Removal of panels and trim in preparation for body repairs and refinishing
Mixing Paint:
Matching and mixing paints using computerised technology to OEM standards
Training:The qualification awarded at the end of the scheme would be Vehicle Damage and Paint Technician Level 3.
Training will be provided within our purpose-built workshop at Bassington Avenue Cramlington, supported by day release attending the City of Sunderland College. Training within the workshop would be mentored by current experienced staff.
