An Instrumentation Test & Process Improvement Engineer is sought to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business in Banbury, Oxfordshire, supporting the testing, calibration, and continuous improvement of advanced environmental monitoring instrumentation.
The Instrumentation Test & Process Improvement Engineer, Banbury, Oxfordshire, will be expected to combine hands-on production testing with continuous improvement activities, working closely with Production and R&D teams to enhance manufacturing processes, improve product reliability, and support the development of innovative monitoring solutions used by customers worldwide.
Responsibilities include:
Perform final testing, inspection, calibration, and certification of industrial monitoring instruments.
Assemble, configure, troubleshoot, and repair optical, electrical, and mechanical instrumentation.
Carry out fault finding and repair of production and returned products to component level.
Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accurate and reliable product testing.
Develop and improve test procedures to increase efficiency, quality, and consistency.
Analyse production test data to identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
Work closely with R&D and Engineering teams to implement design and manufacturing improvements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation, calibration records, and test reports.
Contribute to new product introduction and wider engineering improvement projects.
Key skills & experience:
HNC/HND in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience testing, calibrating, fault finding, and repairing electronic or instrumentation products.
Strong understanding of electronics, measurement systems, and production test environments.
Experience working within manufacturing, instrumentation, or test engineering environments.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Ability to analyse technical data and identify opportunities for process optimisation.
Practical experience using electronic test equipment and hand tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work across Production and Engineering teams.
High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
Self-motivated with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
