Shift Engineer (Temp to Perm)
Location: Westhoughton – BL5
Salary: £42,500 + Benefits
Shift Pattern: Days | 39 hours per week
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting production through effective maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement of site machinery and equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer looking for long-term stability, development, and the opportunity to secure a permanent position within a well-established business.
The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring machinery and production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Working closely with production teams, you will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipmentRespond quickly and effectively to machinery breakdowns to minimise downtimeDiagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faultsSupport continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability and production efficiencyWork closely with operations teams to identify and resolve recurring issuesEnsure all maintenance activities are completed safely and documented accuratelyAssist with machinery installations, upgrades, and improvement works when requiredAbout You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience working as a multi-skilled maintenance or shift engineer within a manufacturing or production environmentStrong mechanical and electrical maintenance skillsExcellent fault-finding and troubleshooting abilityThe ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions under pressureA proactive mindset with a focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvementHighly Desirable Experience
