As an Instrumentation or Mechanical Technician you will spend your first year at a specialist training facility with our training provider Westinghouse Springfields Fuels. You will learn basic engineering and craft skills, giving you a great foundation to progress.
You will then join us on site in year two, based within our training team where you will undertake more formal in-house training for the next three years with our Engineering teams.

NDT Engineering Technician Apprentice
We are currently recruiting for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineering Technician Apprentice’s to work alongside our highly skilled and motivated site NDT team based at Hinkley Point C. Whilst working within the team you will also be completing a Level 2 apprenticeship and studying for three PCN Level 2 Qualifications.
To ensure consideration you will have obtained a minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above (grade 4 or above in the new grading system), including Maths and English. You will also need to demonstrate good eyesight (Jaeger 1), either aided or unaided.

Your role includes the technical and practical needs for today’s motor vehicle body repair industry. You will study both the theory and practical aspects. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team following a defined process, using their skills to correctly identify the different body panel types and have the ability to use the correct repair tools to carry out the work to the highest possible standard.
Motor vehicle chassis and body alignment, e.g. underbody measurement and its impact on suspension and steering geometry
Vehicle body types, panel identification, safety systems, materials and alternative fuel
Use of Body Panel Repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g. alignment jigs, resistance welding equipment, riveting and bonding tools
Removal and replacement of body panels and associated parts e.g. mechanically fixed components, chemically fixed components
Interpretation of technical data for joining techniques and replacement panels
Quality control process and the implications of poor quality
Training will take place via Emtec, Ruddington on a block release model 8 x per year.
