CNC Engineering Apprenticeship
THE CNC APPRENTICE WILL GAIN EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE IN:
Setting, operating and programming CNC milling and CNC Turning machines to include 5 and multi axis machinesAttain an Engineering qualification from City and Guilds / HNC or similar Speeds and feeds for different raw materials; controls; programming; safety and tooling FANUC / Mazatrol control language Lean Manufacturing CMM inspection and manual measuring tools and techniques.
A FULLY COMPETENT AND QUALIFIED CNC APPRENTICE WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
Program machine tools Operate CNC milling and CNC turning machinery Set fixtures and fittings Working to tight tolerances Use manual measuring equipment Competently read manufacturing drawingsTraining:
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):
Duration approximately 40-45 months.
Years 1/2 is a combination of off the job training at HWGTA Training Centre as well as training on site with your employer. This includes 29-42 weeks within the training Centre plus 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects and complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge
Years 3/4 based full time in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Machining Technician Level 3 qualification.
Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Working Hours :
Monday to Thursday 07.30- 16:00 and Friday 07:00- 13:00 hours With ½ hour unpaid lunch break
