As a CAD Technician Apprentice, you’ll support the business by creating and maintaining accurate technical drawings and assisting with IT and systems support. With guidance and training, you’ll develop valuable technical, IT and problem-solving skills, including:
Learning to use AutoCAD to create, update, and maintain drawings
Assisting with installation drawings for live projects

Years 2–3:You will progress onto NVQ Level 3, primarily based at NEMA with one day per week at college. During this stage you will rotate through departments across the workshop, gaining broad exposure to machining, winding, assembly, testing and inspection.
A key milestone will be producing a complete electric motor assembly and its constituent components from scratch, giving you a full understanding of the entire manufacturing process.
After completing your departmental rotations and motor build project, you will be placed within a specialist department where your development will continue in line with business needs and your strengths.

The apprenticeship follows a 3.5-year programme, with the first year spent off the job at CATCH in Stallingborough. This would be Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4pm
The remainder of the apprenticeship is then completed onsite with the employer
Training Outcome:Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a higher-level apprenticeship or full-time employment for the right candidate.
You will have developed a variety of interchangeable skills and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing and processes. Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment
Support inspection, repair, and reassembly of machinery (e.g. conveyors, fillers, packers, pumps, gearboxes)
Assist with basic electrical maintenance and fault-finding on sensors, motors, drives, and control circuits
Learn to use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and develop knowledge of key components (bearings, belts, chains, pneumatics, hydraulics)
Work alongside qualified engineers on reactive and planned maintenance activities
Contribute to continuous improvement and equipment reliability
Complete maintenance records accurately using CMMS systems
Follow engineering standards, SOPs, and risk assessments
Maintain good housekeeping and support 5S activities
Comply with all health & safety, food safety, and quality procedures
Use PPE correctly and follow safe systems of work, including isolation and lock-off procedures
Training:
Attend off the job training with Weston College
Work towards a Level 3 Engineering qualification
Develop competence in both mechanical and electrical disciplines
Build a portfolio of evidence aligned to the apprenticeship standard
Receive structured mentoring, reviews, and performance feedback

The Role – Vehicle Fitter
As a Vehicle Fitter, you will play a key role in assembling and installing a range of mechanical systems onto specialist commercial and transport-related vehicles.

Carrying out mechanical assembly and vehicle fitting tasks to a high standard

About You

· Operating manual lathe, milling machines and surface grinder to manufacture tooling and custom parts for in-house machinery
· Performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep machinery running throughout the factory
