Design Engineer Roles
Innovative and comprehensive design to improve manufacturing processes at our site in Hoyland
Detail design support within project teams, ensuring aesthetic, robust, quality design solutions are achieved through utilisation of a wide range of materials and manufacturing methods
Fully competent usage of the full range of tools incorporated within Pro Engineer 3D CAD package
Support the manufacture of the company’s existing and new product range through generating effective engineering information / systems / manufacturing processes / BOM’s and system troubleshooting / diagnostic
Quality Control & Engineer Roles
To effectively and efficiently control and administer the company’s quality control systems in line with ISO9001, TUV and other company-defined standards
Process all non-conformities through the internal / external quality note system, including identification of agreed preventative actions
Provide and manage a framework for the Warranty Returns and Customer Complaints through the company’s 8D system
Provide hands-on technical assistance for component field failures, ensuring parts are diagnostic / analysed and project managed through preventative design, supply or build action
Conduct Supplier Evaluation Audits and development programs
Responsible for establishing trends, corrective and preventative actions to support both Niftylift internal and external supply chain
Development of robust machine testing procedures and inspection, including hands-on hot testing
Production Engineering
Support the manufacture of the company’s existing and new product range through generating effective engineering information/systems/manufacturing processes and facilities in accordance with Health and Safety legislation
Help to implement a successful Lean Manufacturing culture, focusing on continual improvement and the elimination/reduction of all wastes by educating the business and removing non-value-added waste from the business processes
Supporting the development of and integration of automated processes, through programming, system management and optimised workflow methods connected to Lean Manufacturing and Niftylift Workshop Standards
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role and the organisation’s overall business objectives. This may include the training and mentoring of colleagues.Training:You will study on a Level 3 Engineering and manufacturing support technician apprenticeship. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Level 3 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. The business is looking for an Apprentice to train alongside our existing experienced team of Process Operators. As an apprentice, you will study a range of programmes working towards a Process Industry Manufacturing Technician L3 Apprenticeship standard, covering a variety of skills and qualifications while earning a wage and completing invaluable practical skills in industry. You will be working alongside a mentor and assisting the experienced process shift team with the following duties:
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Start up and shut down the plant process as per operating procedures
Operating the plant and process within the set production and safety parameters
Take samples as per the sampling schedule and procedure
Complete daily logs and make notes of operational events, and communicate with the Shift Team Leader and the oncoming shift team
Assist in the commissioning of new plant and equipment
Carry out permit to work isolations, de-isolations
Report any Health and Safety issues/incidents via the CATS reporting system
Report any Engineering issues via the MAXIMO work order system
Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained on the plant.
Other responsibilities:
Ensure correct stock control of any raw materials used on plant
Ensure control of emergency equipment and PPE in the area
Ensure correct control of any waste streams and assist in the management of the controlled waste zone
Initially, you will be based at the CATCH facility (Immingham) followed by being on site following a shift pattern. However, whilst apprentices are required to work both day and night shifts, individual arrangements will be provided to facilitate day release for college attendance if required.
Transport to the college is provided, and there are two pick-up points: Hull Bus Station, Humber Bridge. Following block training at CATCH you will be based at the Hull plant, Saltend, Hedon, Hull, HU12 8DS.
There will be some working at height and in confined spaces, with PPE required when working with chemicals. This is a 24/7 industry:
This position will involve shift work once initial training is undertaken, and agreed shift allowances will be paid at this time.

The Automation and Controls Apprentice will:

Work as directed by the Senior/Lead Engineer and Project Manager
Carry out all work in full adherence to our quality system, whilst meeting timescale targets

As an Automation and Controls Apprentice, your activities will include the following:
Learning to understand and use various design documents as part of project delivery (including customer requirements, standards, design documents and drawings)
Ensuring all work meets requirements and is delivered on time.
Contributing to the development of documentation (e.g. Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Detail Design Specifications (DDS), test specifications, Operation & Maintenance manuals, risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation)
Contributing to the development of software applications, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
Carrying out testing activities (modular testing, Internal Factory Acceptance Test (IFAT), Customer Factory Acceptance Test (CFAT), System Integration Test (SIT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT))
Maintaining detailed test records and observation report records
Supporting Senior/Lead Engineer with commissioning duties on site
Working proactively as part of a team and show initiative
Working as directed by Senior/Lead Engineer or Project Manager and reporting on progress and issues
Adhering to the business Health and Safety policies
