Key Responsibilities:

• COMCAT 1,2, 3, 5

What will I be doing?

The main purpose of the role is to work with the Estates Grounds Team to learn new skills to carry out maintenance on our grounds both on and off campus to ensure our service users have a safe and pleasant environment for students, staff and visitors and to enhance biodiversity on the campus.
The Apprentice will work towards the Level 2 Horticulture / Landscape Operative Apprenticeship to develop the skills to carry out maintenance on the University buildings and grounds. There will be an allowance for time to be spent at college to complete the relevant qualifications and apprenticeship.
The main duties of the post are as follows:
1. To undertake the Level 2 Horticulture / Landscape Operative Apprenticeship course and develop and execute the knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to their duties in this role, through training.
2. Assist the Estates Technician (Landscapes) in the delivery of the maintenance duties that may include keeping all flower beds and borders free of weeds, plants are maintained, rose beds, herbaceous plants, hedges, and trees are pruned regularly and all lawns are mown when necessary.
3. To remove litter and ensure grounds are kept tidy and safe to use.
4. Complete documentation pre and post task to ensure job is undertaken safely and records of work undertaken are accurate.
