Mechanical Assembly Spindle Service Centre (2 positions) Learning how to diagnose, disassemble, repair and test used machine tool spindles for our European Market. An apprentice in this area will learn the full operations of the section which includes sections such as administration and exports, supply chain handling, testing, inspection, and technical support roles. Mechanical Assembly (2 positions) Assemble and test machine tools and their components. Assembling and testing unit assemblies into the completed machine tool using various hand skills and laser checking equipment. Mechanical Spindle Assembly (1 position) Learning how to prepare, build and test spindles, you will use a manual Lathes and a grinding machine, processes include bearing preparation and fitting, becoming familiar with using a balancing machine, assembly to high accuracy using measuring equipment and a varied range of hand skills such as lapping, the spindles are then supplied to our general assembly production line. Electrical Assembly (6 positions) Wire and test machine tools and their components. Working on individual option looms that will be used in the final production of our machine tools, you will then progress to wiring and testing a range of CNC machines, to include PLCs, ladder diagrams and fault finding prior to machines going to our customers. The broad purpose of a machine tool application engineer is to support new & existing Mazak customers in setting up, optimisation and operation of their CNC machine tool. Supporting customers across all manufacturing sectors including, aerospace, defence, medical, oil & gas, energy, and high performance automotive. As part of the role, machine tool application engineers will provide technical support & expertise for all areas of the engineering and manufacturing function. This begins with presale support involving a comprehensive analysis of machine requirements and includes process definition and development, machine selection and time estimates. Following the sale of a machine tool, support is provided, from onsite application support through to project management of a completely bespoke machining solution (including machine tool, automation, measurement solutions, CAD/CAM and process training). In their daily work, a machine tool application engineer will liaise with customers via email, in person and telephone to provide technical support. They will also program, set up and operate various CNC machine tools including lathe, machining centre, 5 axes multitasking and laser technology. Another aspect of the role requires the engineer to deliver Mazatrol program training to new users in the Mazak training academy. They will also interact with various stakeholders, both internal & external suppliers. As a customer facing role, the application engineer works closely with the sales team to provide technical support, machine tool demonstrations and engineering solutions to customer requirements. Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician Apprentice
In this apprenticeship you will learn a range of mechanical and electrical skills ranging from bearing fitting to troubleshooting and repairing flow wrappers, fault finding electrical circuits to installing motors. You will also learn how to safely maintain the equipment to make and package our Ryvita and Dorset Cereals products which are made on the Poole site. These skills, coupled with a working knowledge of the process operations will develop you into a strong, well-balanced mechanical and electrical engineer.
