Main duties of Engineering Planner/ Engineering Maintenance Planner:
The leadership of the maintenance shutdown coordination, establishing best engineering practices
Control and populate the engineering shift plan for all engineering personnel across all disciplines including contractors
Control, populate and prioritise a work backlog for all maintenance activities or activities involving the engineering team
Key involvement with the implementation of a new CMMS system and T-card system
Work closely with the Engineering Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Manager, and Operational Managers to provide a schedule of work for shift engineers to maintain and improve the reliability of assets
Liaise with production, services, and central functions, to ensure that routine maintenance is planned, and job requests are executed and costed efficiently and effectively
Ensure that equipment removed from the plant, which is being repaired in-house, is coordinated through the shift plan, Work Orders allocated to the repair of each item and appropriate cost captured
Control of accurate records and documentation for all production and auxiliary plant including insurance records
Coordinate and site contact for Contractors to ensure safe and controlled activities are completed on-site and to the quality of engineering standards

Training:Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):

Order Management: Process and manage customer orders from receipt to dispatch, ensuring they are delivered on time, meet customer specifications, and stay within budget
Customer & Department Liaison: Liaise with customers and factory departments on approvals, manufacturing, delivery, site work, and inspections
Electrical Design Creation: Create electrical designs, wiring diagrams, and work instructions for manufacturing
Contract Documentation: Prepare and provide necessary contract documents, such as wiring diagrams, user manuals, export documents, and risk assessments
Contract Review: Regularly review contracts to ensure performance targets are met
Contract Reporting: Report contract performance updates to the Team Manager
Training:Electro- Mechanical Engineer Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard:
During your apprenticeship, you will receive two types of training.
On-the-job training will be delivered by Schneider Electric, your employer.
You’ll receive training and supervision to help you perform your role. This will include skills and knowledge that are outside of the apprenticeship but necessary for the job. In addition to ‘on-the-job’ training, they will support you in other ways to ensure your success.
Types of support will include:
A comprehensive induction
Mentoring or regular one-to-one guidance
Social enrichment and networking opportunities
Performance reviews
Mental health and wellbeing support
Feedback opportunities
Off-the-job training will be provided by a carefully selected training provider during your normal working hours. You will spend at least 20% of your working hours (approximately 6 hours per week) completing ‘off-the-job’ training.
This is protected time and a requirement for apprenticeship delivery. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, enabling you to achieve occupational competence.Training Outcome:
After successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will potentially have the opportunity to move into a permanent position

The McCain Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme is a four-year multi-skilled programme – available at our sites in Wombourne (near Wolverhampton).
To be considered for this apprenticeship, the following will apply:
Must be 18 or over on commencement of the apprenticeshipWilling to learn new skills and adapt to change
Self-discipline in meeting stretching targets and deadlines

Block release to a technical training centre will begin from Year one and as an apprentice, you will be expected to complete college-based elements in addition to hands-on core modular training.
You’ll work towards a multi-skilled NVQ Level 3, alongside the Mechatronics apprenticeship pathway. The scheme will also offer training in modules bespoke to McCain and the potato industry.
On-site, you’ll benefit from working alongside a team of highly skilled maintenance engineers, assisting on an exciting range of engineering challenges in the factory.
