You will learn all about our equipment with training provided onsite and at our HQ in Italy. A second language in French or Italian would be useful, however not essential
We are looking for an individual who can grasp the technical aspects and processes of our equipment, providing a strong foundation for success in any area of our business, whether in sales or on the service side
During your training, you will be expected to assist other engineers on-site across the UK
Therefore, you must be prepared to undertake regional assignments as required
Training:Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX) / HWGTA located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):
Level 3 comprises of:
Duration approximately 40-45 months.
Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects.
Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Development Knowledge.
Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3 qualification.
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.Training Outcome:

Role & responsibilities:
Operate horizontal twin pallet machining centres to machine large fabrications
Make necessary adjustments to the Machining parameters/ off sets etc. as with any repeat production requirements (not programme changes)
Make tool changes where required, using tool setting equipment and selection of correct cutting tips and adjustments
Ability to use gauges and measuring equipment for inspection purposes
Carry out process operations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Quality in process inspection and Pre-delivery Inspection
Complete administration required for updating production control systems for job completion and inventory accuracy
Report all machining defects through our internal Concern Note process, to enable containment, correction and the review of root causes to implement preventative action
Carry out daily, weekly and monthly Operator Planned Maintenance Tasks

They will start in September of each year and progress through the salary scales, which are linked to the successful achievements of each year of their college course. As a Fabricator Technician Apprentice, you will develop the skills required to manufacture and assemble metal components and structures to exact specifications. You will work with a variety of materials and fabrication techniques, ensuring all work meets Ishida’s high standards of quality, safety, and precision.
The training and development you receive will give you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to:
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Cut, form, and shape metal components
Carry out welding and joining processes
Assemble fabricated parts into finished products
Inspect and measure components for quality
Follow safe working practices at all times
This will involve:
In year 1, you will spend a minimum of 16 weeks at Make UK and the remaining time will be spent at Ishida further developing you’ll skills knowledge and abilities
In years 2 - 4, You will rotate through key fabrication and production areas, gaining experience in different techniques, materials, and product types
Aligned to the apprentice programme there will be an Ishida development pathway to start your career in the manufacturing industry
Each apprentice will have a dedicated work mentor with planned regular reviews to support their progression
The range of tasks will include metal fabrication processes such as cutting, bending, welding, assembly, inspection, and rework or modification to engineering drawings and tolerances
The working environment is characterised by teamwork, emphasising collaboration, engagement, and constructive challenges, where individuals can showcase their skills and abilities to make a meaningful impact
Training:Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:
