The role The Fugro Marine Environmental team within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is now looking for an experienced and driven Marine Environmental Scientist to join the reporting team to be based in either our Portchester office or Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University campus on a 1 year fixed term contract to cover for maternity. This is a pivotal role, reporting into the Senior Marine Environmental scientist, you will be analysing multi‑parameters datasets including photographic data, macrofauna data and physico‑chemical data and producing high quality technical reports. The Marine Environmental team specialises in environmental site characterisation and environmental monitoring. The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring work is of the highest standard and quality ensuring the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution in accordance with company procedures. You will be involved in the preparation of environmental technical reports, utilising relevant statistical analysis of data and mapping software, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met. You will ensure all activities are carried out to company specific standards and are in line with our QHSSE policies. Who we’re looking for Essential BSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science, or equivalent; Minimum of 1 year relevant practical experience; Experience of marine macrofauna identification and/or physical and chemical analysis; Experience of scientific/technical report writing; Experience of statistical analysis; Good Microsoft Office capabilities; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Proven ability to work to deadlines. Desirable MSc or PhD in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent; Experience of undertaking marine environmental surveys; Experience of geographic information system (GIS) software; Experience of interpreting geophysical data; Report review and quality control experience; Clean driving licence; Experience of sensitive habitat assessments and protected habitats within the UK; Renewables industry experience. The opportunity GSENZH is assembling a team to launch and manage the net-zero pilot programme across Manchester, West Midlands & York & North East Yorkshire Combined Authorities As Support Coordinator - Net Zero, you will report to the Local Net-Zero Accelerator (LNZA) Programme Lead and provide senior administrative support to the DESNZ Programme Board, DESNZ Green Finance Project Board, LNZA Programme Lead and the GSENZH Delivery Team.
