Personal Advisor (Leaving Care Service)
Location: BradfordContract: 4 months with reviewHourly Rate: £15.80 ltd per hour (equivalent to £14.45 PAYE inclusive) Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Are you passionate about empowering young people and supporting them as they transition into adulthood? Do you have experience working with vulnerable children and young people in care? If so, we want you to join our team as a Leaving Care Specialist / Personal Advisor.
As part of our Care Leavers Service, you will play a vital role in helping young people who are "Looked After" or who have recently left care to realise their potential and navigate the challenges of transitioning into independent living. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people at a critical point in their journey.
What You’ll Be Doing
Empowering Young People: You’ll provide practical, emotional, and personal support to help young people meet their individual needs and build a bright future.
Supporting Development: Guide young people through the complexities of health, benefits, housing, education, training, and employment.
Collaboration and Advocacy: Work closely with other professionals, families, and community members to ensure the young person’s needs are met. Advocate for young people, empowering them to make their own decisions and self-advocate when needed.
Creating Pathways for Success: Help young people create personalised action plans and a pathway for independence, while ensuring the progress of their development through assessments and regular reviews.
Building Relationships: Establish a trusting relationship with young people to help them navigate transitions and overcome barriers to learning and personal growth.
Contributing to Service Development: Actively engage in the development of the service, promoting the voice and participation of young people in shaping their support and the service they receive.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: You’ll need experience working with young people, ideally in a supportive or advisory role. Experience working with young parents or vulnerable groups is an asset.
Skills & Knowledge: A solid understanding of adolescent issues, housing, employment, and training challenges. You’ll be comfortable liaising with external agencies to build a support network for the young people in your care.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and a commitment to your own professional development.
Flexibility: The role requires a flexible approach, with some evening and weekend work. A full driving license and access to a car for work purposes are essential.

The role of a Planning & Design Trainee involves detailed technical discussions with customers, architects, public authorities and landowners together with a sound and pragmatic appreciation of complex engineering problems. Applicants must be personable and approachable, with a firm understanding of engineering and financial matters.
The training programme provides on-the-job training and formal courses held in one of our Training Centres at either Taunton or Tipton, over a period of approximately two years (depending on entry level qualifications). Successful candidates will also be expected to study for and achieve a higher-level qualification. The majority of the on-the-job training will take place within local teams, but you may be required to undertake placements at other locations across the National Grid service area, so you need to be flexible and able to travel.
The apprenticeship programme takes approximately three years to complete, and you’ll spend your first 10-12 weeks being inducted onto the programme at one of our Training Centres. You’ll earn while you learn and develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to become a Networks Planner, achieving a higher-level qualification. will include vocational and academic courses along with periods of on-the-job training and development, learning from an experienced and qualified Network Planner. Our Finance Shared Services Centre are responsible for transactional finance processing across the Group including accounts payable, sales invoicing, accounts receivable, and payroll. We are looking for an Apprentice to join the team, and some of your key responsibilities will be:
Liaising with project teams and suppliers to answer queries and ensure invoices are correct
Answering queries from colleagues effectively and with respect
Creating and maintaining electronic and hard-copy files
Updating internal trackers, schedules and the finance system
Completing general support/administrative tasks

Our New Homes business provides much-needed build-to-rent and affordable housing solutions, addressing the housing challenges facing our communities. We are looking for an apprentice to join the Development team and some of your key responsibilities will include:
Liaising with and managing external consultants
Reviewing incoming design information
Monitoring pre-construction programmes
Site visits to new and live sites
Involvement within the planning process, providing development support to the in-house planner
Working with in-house engineering and architectural departments to validate information
Liaising with statutory authorities to agree site-specific requirements
Supporting on build cost management and consultant fees
Reviewing technical reports to identify key site design parameters.
Reviewing site constraints and opportunities
Training:As an apprentice with United Living, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll be inspired and stretched professionally, but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues, as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living, and the construction industry.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Design and Construction Management (Degree) Apprenticeship, which will be delivered by our training partner the University of Central Lancashire. The programme is five years long and you will attend campus one day per week to study towards your qualification. You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as lectures, learning materials, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.
