As an apprentice, you will be working alongside a team of experienced technicians, where you will learn to maintain and repair customers' vehicles to an extremely high standard. You will be working on the latest modern vehicle products and technologies. This will include the latest vehicle operating electronic systems, including alternative fuelled vehicle systems such as EV (full electric vehicles), hybrid vehicles and, where applicable, hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Your duties will include:
General servicing and repairs. This will require the candidate to work to the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure the vehicle is operating to its optimum required performance.
The candidate will be expected to, under guidance and mentoring, learn processes and procedures as required in respect of vehicle technical repairs. This will also include the manufacturer’s warranty processes and procedures.
The candidate will be guided through more complex diagnostic and repair procedures involving electronic vehicle operating systems. Examples of these are ABS systems, electric engine management operating systems, electronic operating gearbox systems, electronic operating steering systems, ADAS operating systems, and infotainment systems.**Please note you will be required to drive these vehicles. Therefore, a full UK driving licence is required.
Training Outcome:
Upon successful timely completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate will have achieved a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Standard.
A candidate’s progression route, after successfully completing a level 3 apprenticeship, will allow them to move forward with a view to progressing into specific manufacturer’s product training at levels 1, 2 and 3, moving on to diagnostic technician. This may lead to master technician training.

Our Vehicle Damage Paint Technicians work within the Volkswagen Group Approved Repairer network to help return our customers vehicles back to factory standards following accidents including bumps and scrapes. This means that our customer’s vehicles will become as good as new.
Paint Technicians are responsible for preparing vehicles to be painted after damage has occurred or once panels have been replaced. This will include repairing minor scratches to match the rest of the vehicle.
Some of the day-to-day duties include:

As loan vehicle specialists, DSV Commercials supply alternative transportation for drivers dropping off vehicles to return to base.

The techniques and daily responsibilities you will learn will include:

Inspecting and preparing customers vehicles ready for mechanical work
Removing, repairing or replacing components to the correct specification
Contributing to a safe working environment, by working within Health and Safety processes

Training:This is a Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, delivered by Remit Group.
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at the Remit Academy in Derby. This means you will be required to stay in a hotel for 15 separate weeks (Monday-Friday) over the duration of the programme. All associated costs for training are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you. You will also be assigned a dedicated Development Coach who will visit you every 4-6 weeks at the workplace, giving 1-2-1 information, advice and guidance.

A Multi-Skilled Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has taken some type of collision damage.
This will involve learning the skills required to take an accident damaged vehicle through various stages of repair to the pre-accident condition.
These fall into three main areas of skills training:
MET-Mechanical, Electrical & Trim. Candidates will learn to refit processes of all main vehicle systems including air conditioning, vehicle alignment and Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems
Panel-repair. Candidates will learn to repair bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects and carrying out techniques such as welding, bond and riveting and correcting misalignment
Paint-surface repair
Candidates will learn how to prepare surfaces and carry out paint refinishing through the following techniques:

Application of base coat & lacquer

Residential accommodation and meals will be provided
Candidates will work towards achieving the Accident Repair Technician Apprenticeship Standard for the Automotive Bodyshop Industry at Level 3. They will also be required to study towards achieving level 2 maths and English functional skills if they do not already hold equivalent qualifications
Regular visits to the dealership from EMTEC Vocational Learning Advisors will take place, who will observe all evidence opportunities that occur naturally in the workplace
Candidates will be expected to engage in self-directed learning outside of normal working hours, which will be monitored and tracked through an online e-portal. In addition to this, as part of the programme the employer is offering additional off the job training to achieve the following qualifications, in order to bring the candidate to the required skills level for Gemini ARC Multiskills Technicians
