Technology Facility and Development – This team is responsible for the design and delivery of facility components, test rigs and the infrastructure required in support of the core test areas delivering physical test plans
The area is also responsible for the development and delivery of key new facilities, technology, infrastructure and strategy for Build and Test Operations, leading projects from concept through to delivery. The role will see you be involved in the manufacture of electrical harnesses, panels and cabinets in support of test activities and new facility delivery
This will range from facility level industrial electrical installations all the way to specific system level development. In addition, the role will involve the reactive support for lab-based test facilities, providing electrical knowledge and problem solving to support issue resolution
Training Outcome:
Move into a permanent role such as Engineering Technician, Prototype Technician, CNC Machinist, Fabricator, Toolmaker or Electrical Technician within Engineering Operations
Specialise within areas like Tool Room, Fixtures and Tooling, Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, or Technology Facility and Development
Progress over time into senior technician or specialist roles, supporting more complex projects and mentoring newer apprentices
Develop into roles with wider responsibility, such as team leader, project support or coordination positions across Engineering Operations and other JLR functions
Continue your learning through higher apprenticeships, professional qualifications or degree-level study, with support from JLR’s development programmes

Electrical Assembly Technician required ideally with IPC certification (IPC 620 or J-Std ideal) to work on PCB component soldering, micro-soldering, crimping and general wiring on the assembly of high value, low volume rugged devices.
You will work to schematics, following routings, testing and taking performance measurements with a PC based system. This role will be building systems and various components of complex drilling tools that have to perform within tight tolerances.
