Highways maintenance workers are tasked with working on roads, highways, and rights-of-way which can be accessed by the public.
Day-to-day tasks may include:

You will achieve the Level 2 Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Apprenticeship Standard by attending CP Assessments Training Centre in Denaby Main, Doncaster to undertake 8 block-release training sessions (4 days), every 10-12 weeks
The successful candidate will work towards Level 2 Functional Skills in both maths and English if they have not achieved this prior or have an equivalent
You will be registered for an Apprentice CSCS card which can be upgraded on successful completion of the apprenticeship
Training Outcome:

Training is delivered on a block release basis at the Alliance Training Centre in Doncaster.
This means your college based training will be delivered away from home and you will be required to stay in a hotel for 17 separate weeks (Mon – Fri) over the 3 year duration of the course. All associated costs for training are met by the employer/the programme and there will be no cost to yourself/your parents or guardians.
Assessments will also be conducted in the work place by a dedicated training assessor. You will also be assigned a workplace mentor for support in dealership.

• Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Level 3Training Outcome:Possible permanent role upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. During the apprenticeship, you will become proficient in reading and interpreting CAD drawings, planning your work with the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task. You will develop your problem-solving and fault diagnosis skills alongside following the high quality, health and safety standards in place.
Following the completion of the Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship the successful candidate will provide the necessary technical expertise and support in relation to assembly of control system activities, whilst meeting agreed production quantity and quality targets in a safe manner.
Initially you will prepare and assemble components ie.,
Interpretation of diagrams
Measuring, labelling, marking out panels,
Drilling and fitting plates to wire control panels in our workshop
You will possess a positive attitude towards self development both practically and academically, ability to work within a small supportive team, be conscientious, with good timekeeping skills and have a desire to achieve high standards of customer satisfaction.
As the role progresses you will become involved in testing, use of power tools and have the opportunity to see the job through by assisting on customer sites around the UK, with installation and commissioning.
You will be trained to read and interpret engineering data, worksheets and drawings in addition to working to documentation such as method statements, HS&E requirements to ensure safe systems of work.

Training will be delivered one day per week, term time, and is based at The Highfield site and facilities are in creation to enrich the student experience, developing them with the necessary skills using industry recognised equipment to ensure the apprentice receives training closely matched to the employer’s and industry.Training Outcome:Initially working as an apprentice learning the skills in our workshop and in College. Following successful completion of the apprenticeship there could be the opportunity to gain further qualifications, in a supportive environment.
The further qualifications are dependent upon the route both the candidate and the business see their career going. Once the apprentice becomes experienced in the role, in addition to undertaking work in our workshop, they will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified engineers in onsite installation and commissioning.
