As an apprentice groundworker you will:
Clear and tidy the construction site
Dig trenches for foundations
Setting up sites, including putting up barriers, safety signs and huts

We are looking to recruit Health Care Assistants to support our residents . Our gardens are heritage sites, and homes to the most extensive plant collection in Europe, and our gardeners are responsible for the conservation and development of plant collections and the gardens to increasing numbers of members and visitors. Our gardens are much loved and visited from far and wide by many and you’ll be part of the team of professionals caring for all aspects of the heritage gardens in the portfolio.
You will be based at Stourhead, one of the National Trust’s most popular properties. You will be working within the garden team across the grade 1 listed 18th century landscape garden, walled garden and top garden to learn a wide range of horticultural skills. The work at Stourhead is seasonal and everything is on a large scale. This includes mowing, strimming, pruning, edging, weeding, watering, mulching, taking cuttings, growing produce, selecting flowers for displays and much more. We also have many volunteer groups that you’ll work alongside day-to-day, who all have their own interests and skills to share with you.Training:Your training will be delivered via a combination of mandatory 5-day college blocks and online learning, with all college expenses and travel paid. There will also be opportunities to travel to other National Trust locations with some overnight stays to expand your learning and experience. You’ll also be able to join other training events and learn from industry colleagues internally and externally.
Working alongside your mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, you’ll develop the skills & knowledge relevant to this apprenticeship standard. (Horticulture or landscape construction operative level 2).

We strive to be outstanding at our Pre-School. To begin with, we are not part of a nursery chain, nor are we a money-making corporation. We exist as a charity and have done for the past 50 years; we own our own purpose-built building that is for our sole use and is regularly maintained. We offer more flexibility than other early years settings in a well-established village with an experienced staff team and a fantastic family community. Our staff are excited to come to work each day and support and nurture our lovely children.
Our Pre-School is open to children from the village and other surrounding areas from Monday through Friday from 8:45am to 3:30pm. In addition to this we also operate our after-school club for children at our setting (and those in EYFS from the adjacent primary school) from 3.30pm to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday. We open 39 weeks per year and follow Staffordshire County Council school term time schedule.
As a small charity we have a committee that helps us to operate as well as works tirelessly to fundraise, we get involved in community events and work closely with the Primary school where we are based to provide a smooth transition for our children into school.

As a Forest school setting you will have the opportunity to learn more about this pedagogy and support the children as they learn in this environment. We have a qualified Forest school leader and have been developing our outdoor learning over the last 10 years, taking the children for block weeks each term, this is an integral part of our Pre-School ethos.
An ability to liaise confidently with parents, team members and management committee.
GCSE English and Maths grade C or above or equivalent essential

Training:
Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard
Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.Training Outcome:We hope that once qualified that you would consider staying on permanently in the team and look to complete further training to gain a Level 3, which we would support you with.

You’ll be working outdoors in all weathers as part of our ranger teams, supporting our strategy to restore a healthy, beautiful and natural environment. Your role will be working to protect and improve the health and wildlife richness of our countryside, preserving all the benefits we get from it and helping our visitors to experience and get closer to conservation of our special outdoor places.

Clumber Park has a rich mosaic of habitats fitted into a registered Grade 1 Parkland. With over 750,000 visitors annually the balance between nature and the ability for people to connect with it has major opportunities.
With a new grant scheme in operation, we are focusing on wood pastures restoration and creation of it to recreate the historic environment of Clumber Park. During the next 12-months some of the projects that will be happening will be planting over 13,000 hedgerow plants, creating heathland by showing heather seed for some of our star species like the Diamond spider and creating future opportunities for species reintroduction to Clumber like the Silver Studded Blue Butterfly.
