A rotation plan will start once you have completed your manufacturing key skills training, where you will gain experience & knowledge in different manufacturing departments every 3 months. After the rotation plan you will have travelled around various different departments on the shop floor including assembly & integration, test, repairs and fault finding.
Over this time you will have learnt many different skills in Mechanical and Electrical criteria’s within accordance with IPC 610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) / 620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies).
You will become a key member of the team, with technical knowledge and practical expertise in the use of both common and specialist tools and equipment, including the use of a variety of measuring, testing, diagnostic aids/equipment and processes to ensure individual components, assemblies and/or integrated systems meet the required specification.Training:
As an Assembly Apprentice you will be working towards a Level 3 apprenticeship following the Engineering Maintenance Technician standard
For the duration of this 3 year programme, you will be given one day per week in which to complete your studies with a local college
For the other 4 days, you will be working in the business, applying your learning and gaining a breadth of experience across the industry
Training Outcome:
Will qualify with a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) standard and be a permanent Assembly Technician within the Thales business

As a Marine Engineer Apprentice, you will:
Work hands-on with Thales UK vessels, supporting their operations and upkeep
Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting tasks to ensure safety and reliability
Perform both planned and reactive maintenance on cutting-edge marine systems
Collaborate closely with the Operations team and Skippers to maintain vessel serviceability and high standards
Accurately report and document defects to aid continuous improvement
Provide practical support for all trials conducted at the Turnchapel site
Training:For this apprenticeship you will role onto a Level 3 Marine Engineer programme at City of Plymouth College. This programme will be delivered over a 3.5 year period, with a further 3-6 months for your End Point Assessment. For the first year of the apprenticeship, you will attend college full time for your academic studies. During the academic holidays you will work from the Thales site in Turnchapel to embed your learning and integrate with the team there. In your second year you will attend college on a day release basis and then spend the rest of the time in the business. Year three will be work based, with remote support from the college. Training:As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you will be studying towards a BEng in Electro-Mechanical Engineering at Nottingham University, under the Level 6 Electro-Mechanical Degree Apprenticeship. For the duration of this 5-year programme, you will be given 1 day per week to focus on your academic studies and for the other 4 days, will be working in the business applying your new skills to real life projects. This programme is delivered via a blended learning model which includes some on campus taught content and some virtual learning. You will need to attend Nottingham University for minimum 4 weeks per academic year, delivered in 1-week blocks.
Upon completion of the programme, you will have achieved a BSc in Electro-mechanical Engineering, a Level 6-degree apprenticeship qualification and will move into a permanent role within the business.
