As our Audio Visual Apprentice, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality AV and production services across a wide range of events - from meetings and conferences to live and hybrid experiences.
Working alongside our AV Technicians, you’ll get hands-on experience setting up, operating and de-rigging equipment. This could include microphones, sound desks, video conferencing systems and digital displays, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.
You’ll also support live events, assisting with sound, basic mixing and technical setup, while learning how different elements come together to create a professional event experience.
Alongside the practical side, you’ll build your knowledge through a Level 5 Audiovisual Technician apprenticeship. You’ll develop your skills in AV technology, production and event delivery, while gaining real experience in a busy, professional environment.
Day to day, you’ll help check and maintain equipment, support meeting rooms, and work with teams across the organisation to deliver filming, streaming and technical event requirements.
It’s a varied, hands-on role where you’ll learn by doing, supported by an experienced team.
A little more about the role:
Support the setup, operation and pack-down of AV equipment for events
Assist with live and hybrid event delivery, including sound and basic production support
Carry out routine checks of meeting rooms and provide first-line AV support
Work with teams such as IT and IET.tv to support filming and streaming
Help maintain and track AV equipment and inventory
Provide friendly, professional support to internal and external clients
Complete the Level 5 Audiovisual Technician apprenticeship programme

There will be an online day release once a week for the duration of the apprenticeship programme

The successful Apprentice will work as part of our Print Production and Finishing Team reporting to our Production Manager. The Apprentice will be taught the nature and mechanics of Digital printing and finishing as well as be taught to operate and run these machines in active production with assistance initially and then independently solving any problems that may arise. Within the training programme the Apprentice will be required to understand the theories and practicalities of Digital printing and this will include:
• Following instruction and our existing operational procedures to the letter and query with your Line Manager if unsure.
• Producing printed work or finishing using laminators, cad-cutting machinery, eyeletting and welding machinery and advising the team leaders of any flaws in a job you may find in advance of issues occurring.
• Quality checking of work undertaken
• Being flexible in carrying out ad-hoc duties as required.
• Gaining a professional understanding of how clients use printed products and related services in general.Training:A full plan will be created at the start of the Apprenticeship to provide information as to what you will be studying and when. You will attend a class each month for one full day at a local venue (this information can be provided on interview). The teaching and training will cover everything from health and safety and general industrial practices to specific industry practices. This will lead you to preparation for your end point assessment, consisting of an online exam, professional discussion and observation in the workplace. You will be allocated a designated tutor and workplace mentor who will support and guide you through the Apprenticeship.Training Outcome:If you succeed as an Apprentice, you will have a sound knowledge of Digital Printing and as such you will possess an essential skill set to help you advance in your career. Day to day role responsibilities include:
Assigned to a production Cell of machines to learn how to operate those machines safely, effectively and efficiently, whilst maintaining precision and accuracy (Moving from department to department on a rotational basis).
To collaborate with your mentor in the monitoring and optimising of the production rate and running times of machines in the Cell to achieve scheduled delivery dates.
Be responsible for producing consistent quality across each and every machine in their care.
To learn and assist in carrying out routine maintenance within their capability level or in the of case of difficulty or anticipated delay, advise the Senior Setter/Team Leader.
To clean and deburr parts where necessary, boxing and packaging components when required.
To carries out additional duties as requested by Mentor, Senior Setter(s) or Team Leader(s).
Learn traditional machining skills on manual machines to assist with R&D projects and fixture making.
Collaborate with Technician Apprentices on development projects.
To undertake work-based learning assignments with support of College Assessor and Mentor.
Training:The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Qualifications include:
EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Development Competence).
City and Guilds Machining technician.
