Assist with the inspection and measurement of finished components to ensure they meet required specifications
Help identify wear, damage or faults in tooling and report issues to experienced engineers
Assist with repairing and refurbishing worn tooling to extend its working life
Support engineers with planned preventative maintenance of tools and associated equipment
Assist with the installation, removal and changeover of tooling on production machinery
Learn how different tools affect the quality, dimensions and performance of copper tubing
Work with production and engineering teams to investigate tooling-related production problems
Assist with fault finding and problem solving when machinery or tooling is not operating correctly
Keep tools, machinery and the workshop area clean, organised and safe
Follow all company health and safety, quality and environmental procedures
Complete maintenance records, job sheets and other engineering documentation accurately
Gain experience across different areas of the factory to understand the complete copper tube manufacturing process
Attend college or training-provider sessions and apply the theoretical knowledge gained to practical engineering tasks
Gradually take on more complex tooling and engineering tasks as skills, confidence and competence develop
Work alongside experienced engineers to develop skills in precision engineering, machining, maintenance and toolmaking
Training:
This is a Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, Toolmaker pathway, delivered over a period of 3-4 years
The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, 2.5 days per week for the first 14 months, and the company for the rest of the time
Training Outcome:On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you could progress into a qualified Toolmaker role, with opportunities to develop further into positions such as:

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will:
Programme, set up and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools.
Use conventional manual machine tools to manufacture components.
Design and manufacture jigs and fixtures to improve production processes.
Carry out metrology, using precision measuring equipment to inspect high-accuracy components, tooling and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement and test GNC algorithms for spacecraft missions.

- Contribute to the design, development and testing of GNC flight software.

Essential Experience & Skills
