As a Level 4 Gas to Grid Service Engineer Apprentice, you’ll learn how to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the gas to grid and energy generation equipment - including CHP engines, flare stacks, siloxane removal plants, carbon vessels, and all related systems - to make sure the assets run safely and meet the company’s targets for availability, quality, and performance
Help monitor and operate energy generation equipment, spotting any changes in performance through control systems and site checks
Support with basic maintenance and repairs, including fault finding and helping keep equipment running safely and efficiently
Assist experienced technicians and engineers, learning how to work with National Grid, contractors, and onsite teams to keep operations smooth and compliant
Take part in collecting data and samples, helping with performance checks, reporting, and supporting regulatory requirements
Get involved in improvements and new projects, such as commissioning new equipment, learning best practice, and helping identify ways to optimise how the site runs

We are searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our clients existing design team. In this role you will be responsible for the design, engineering and specification of new products alongside the maintenance of our clients existing product range.
You will report to the Technical Engineering Manager and alongside the Design team you will be expected to generate production ready designs and help ensure the smooth running of the department. You will ensure that new products are designed and developed within the agreed timescales and to the standards expected.
ROLE DUTIES
Work closely with the Technical Engineering Manager and the Design and Development department you will take products from conception to detailed engineering drawings for manufacture.
You will determine manufacturing methods for engineering designs accounting for both inhouse and external manufacture capabilities.
You will carry out DFMEA at the outset of each project, monitoring the completion of actions identified and working with the development team to identify product design failure modes.
You will ensure that tolerance analysis is carried out during the design process, allowing for ease of manufacture, product function and eliminating tolerance build up issues during product manufacture and assembly.

You will learn the theory and practical skills to:
Manufacture metallic components using our three-axis mill and lathe to enable rapid set up of experiments in the laboratory.
Set up experiments and perform component-level testing of items such as suspension members or pedals, then analyse the data to ensure that the requirements of the test have been met.
By the conclusion of your apprenticeship, be able to take specific ownership of the testing of components of the car (as examples – this could be suspension parts, transmission components, wing deflection tests etc.).
Key Skills to be Developed:
Interpreting technical drawings to British Standard 8888, including a detailed understanding of geometric tolerancing.
The use of CNC and manual machine tools for milling and turning of fixturing to be used for the setup of tests within the laboratory.

Duties will include:
Preparation, installation and handover of complex technologically advanced machinery
Diagnosis and repair of complex faults in machinery
Conducting complex repairs of machinery
Compilation of repair proposals, estimates and quotations
Training:Qualification achieved: Level 2 Land-based Service Engineer Apprenticeship
Pre-delivery inspection of machinery carried out in accordance with manufacturers and employer’s procedures
Performing routine service and maintenance operations in accordance with manufacturer’s schedules and employer’s instructions
The preparation of equipment for repair for example, cleaning, dismantling and reassembly of machinery and their component parts.
Conducting routine machine operation and systems testing.
Handing over machinery plant and equipment to the control and use of others in the workplace.

Training Outcome:After successfully passing the level 2 apprenticeship, you will be trained up to the level 3 industry recognised qualifcation in Land Based Service Engineering.
